The Ford EcoSport has done very well for the manufacturer in India. Last year, the new EcoSport was launched in India. The company has full faith in this product for India. But this car is now the oldest in the segment. New entrants like the Mahindra XUV300 and the Hyundai Venue are making giant strides in the segment in terms of sale and offer a lot more features than the aging Ford. Thus, the company is now thinking to replace the Ford EcoSport with a compact SUV that will be based on the more modern Fiesta platform. The car has been spotted testing in the UK and will make to production soon. The 2020 Ford EcoSport will not come to India anytime soon before the end of next year.

What do you think of this move? Do you think the design of the Ford EcoSport is outdated? Which features do you think the EcoSport should get? Should it also become a connected car?

2020 Ford EcoSport Price

The price of the current car ranges between Rs 8 lakhs to Rs 12 lakhs. The new generation Ford EcoSport will also be priced in the same range. This puts it in a really tight competition with the Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue and other compact SUV. This segment is tightly priced and the vehicles in this segment cant survive without proper pricing structure.

2020 Ford EcoSport Platform

The car is going to based on the platform of the European Ford Fiesta. The Fiesta is really doing wonders for Ford and an SUV based on that car is also expected to do well. The Fiesta is a supermini and can be compared to cars like the Hyundai i20 and the Baleno in India.

2020 Ford EcoSport Design

The Ford will carry different design style from the current EcoSPort for sure. The car’s design will lean more towards the looks of a crossover. The Fiesta’s design is going to be key here. Ford will make sure there are subtle reminders and touches that relate the car to the Ford families most famous hatchback. The interior will be feature loaded. The car will come with the latest SYNC software for its entertainment system and the upholstery will be more sporty and durable too. There will be more emphasis and though on the rear seat and boot too. While the front row is an excellent place to be in, the EcoSports Achilles heel is its rear seat comfort. Ford will address that.

The overall look of the vehicle will be very different from the existing model. The boxy feel of the car will be replaced by more curves. The grille will remain small but there will be a change in the shape. The web-shaped alloys of the car will now be replaced with a more refreshed design. Although it would be a pleasure to see the design on alloy remain web-shaped but becomes a bit sharper. The bonet of the car will change and be longer. The overall length of the vehicle will also change which will have some effect on the road presence. This will be done keeping the car under 4 metres to avoid the excess tax.
