Tata has been making sure that the Harrier’s achievements, features and capability are highlighted on every given opportunity.

There has been a lot of talk with the Harrier being based on the Land Rover architecture and being given Tata’s new Omega platform. The car has been given a better a Terrain Select mode which uses the ESP and brakes of the car to mimic Land Rover’s Terrain Response System and deal with rough conditions. But wait, it might be capable of more. There might be a Tata Harrier 4×4. A car with proper 4WD as it was meant to be. Below is a picture by Tata designer Pratap Bose of a white Harrier with big snow tyres wishing us a Merry Christmas. All we can say is don’t make us wait till next Christmas for a Tata Harrier with 4WD.

Tata Harrier 4×4 Launch

Tata will launch the 4WD variant of the Harrier soon. We can assume that they will want to get this car out before the launch of the upcoming 7-seater, H7X. And since the H7X is going to be shown at the 2020 Auto Expo, the car should be unveiled before that. Tata will want to do this quickly to make off-road enthusiasts happy.

Tata Harrier 4×4 Design

The car’s design will not change much. Alterations will involve bigger tyres, more ground clearance, a slightly redesigned bumper and Tata will offer more accessories and body cladding kits for this car.

The whole car is built on an OMEGA platform which is derived from the Land Rovers D8 architecture. The Land Rover Discovery Sport will be built on the same platform. The Harrier has been built keeping local conditions in mind.

Tata is aiming at getting more and more global products. This car shares its platform with the Discovery Sport. The sharing of the platform will also mean that the Tata Harrier will be a very capable on and off-road.

Tata Harrier 4×4 Competition

This cars main competition will be the AWD Mahindra XUV500 which comes close to it in price and specs. The other car that people will opt for is the Renault Duster 4WD. The Harrier will be unique with it’s Land Rover roots and a 4WD system which can handle more than rocks and rough roads, but also snow as shown in the picture.
