Mahindra XUV300 Electric spied testing

Mahindra XUV300 electric

The Mahindra XUV300 Electric! We expect to see it at the 2020 Auto Expo. The car is codenamed S210. This could be the first affordable electric SUV people could buy. Apart from this, Mahindra has not revealed anything else till now. According to some publications, the car could get around 350 kilometers to 400 kilometers of range with a long-range battery unit. If this happens, the car will be a very real answer to those who are saying that the range of such vehicles is going to be a problem. The car will part of Mahindra’s big push towards electrification of cars in India. Below is a picture of the car caught testing. The cars grille has been covered as there will be no engine there. The car will not have any more changes to it apart from a sealed grille on the exterior. There could be a different lights, LEDs and many other things on the exterior. To known more about our thoughts on design, scroll down below.

Mahindra XUV300 electric

Below are our predictions on what features the car will offer. What electric unit will it be? Will it be a hybrid or a fully electric unit? Read more to find out.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Launch

The Mahindra XUV300 Electric will be launched in 2020. The car will be first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The will launched subsequently. This launch would also make sure that Mahindra has a lot of electric vehicles in its lineup.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Launching 2020

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Price

The price of the car is to early to predict. The price of the regular XUV300 has not been revealed yet. The car will be obviously more expensive than the car with the combustion engine. The XUV300 Electric will be cheaper than the Hyundai Kona for sure. Mahindra will have taken that car into account before making the decision of getting this car to India. The car should be under Rs 25 lakhs (on-road). electric cars do not have a big reach in India and people with the means who can afford an extra car and want to make a statement or want to experience something different would buy them.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Price
Base variant Rs 22 lakhs
Top variant Rs 24 lakhs

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Design

The design of the car will be the same as the XUV300. The regular XUV300 takes a lot of inspiration from the Mahindra XUV500. The design will remain the same on the electric variant. The only difference will be that the front engine bay will also have more storage. The interior dashboard layout will be different and there will be more weight saving materials used in the construction of the car. The dimensions will be the same. The car will be a sub-4 meter car but will have some body panels that are different and more suited for the electric car. For e.g – the car will have no grille as an electric car does not require any kind of cooling mechanism or radiator for air flow. Thus we will see a revised bumper and hood. The car will have HID headlamps and LED taillights. The tyre design will be completely different too. Mahindra will make sure the tyre’s are eco tyres which have low resistance and have a good life and aid the car in increasing its range.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Specifications

Now, no official specifications are out yet and there will be time before Mahindra announces something. But if we can go by the Ssangyong Tivoli EVR concept that was shown at the Geneva motor show, the car will have an electric motor that makes 127bhp and also could feature a small single cylinder petrol range extender which would recharge the battery on the move. Now, this would make the Mahindra XUV300 Electric a hybrid and not a pure electric. Ssangyong says that the electric motor has enough juice for 130 kilometres, but with the range extender, the car could go as far as 500 kilometres. This feature would mean that more people would like to buy the car in India where range anxiety for electric vehicles is a big thing. And with reports of the car being able to do at least 400 kilometres coming in. Many people would consider this EV strongly.

Mahindra XUV300 Electric Competiton

As of now, there are no competitors in the electric SUV market in India. Hyundai has the Kona EV and will introduce it to India soon. But with an SUV manufacturer like Mahindra making an entry into this segment with this much seriousness means that an electric future is very close for us. Even Tata and FFord have developed and are ready with electric cars like the Tigor EV and the Aspire EV. The day’s electric cars on the road are seen as a common sight is closing in.

2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT coming soon!

Marazzo Dashboard

The 2019 Mahindra Marazzo has been lighting the sales charts up for Mahindra in the past few months since it’s launch. The car has been seen as a major disrupter for the Maruti Ertiga, Renault Lodgy and the Honda BRV. The Marazzo offers a great combination of comfort, specs and features that make is a combination that makes it a value for money option. The AMT gearbox will be a great addition for the Marazzo. According to one publication, the AMT version will be launched next month. Now many of you must be thinking, did Mahindra not announce that it will bring the Marazzo with a torque converter unit? Yes, the speculation is that the car will be offered with an AMT gearbox right now because of the demand for an automatic transmission.

Mahindra Marazzo Front

2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT Launch

The car is rumored to be launch next month. This will be a very quick response to the demand by Mahindra. This new variant of the car comes just a few months after the launch a few months ago. The 2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT will be followed by the petrol engine offering. The XUV300 will have an AMT for its petrol and diesel. This same engine and transmission can be used on the Marazzo as well. Of course, only for the diesel.

Marazzo Dashboard

2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT Price in India

The 2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT will come with a diesel engine. The current car’s price comes to around Rs 16.25 lakhs (On-road, Delhi). The price of the 2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT should be slightly higher. We expect Mahindra will try and keep the car under 17 lakhs. This car will be a limited run model. The plans to have a CVT in this car are still on track and the Marazzo AMT will mostly be a one year model.

2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT New Variant

We are expecting an all new variant for the Marazzo that will be launched along with the AMT variant. This will be the M10 mostly. This variant will get all the features that one is expecting from the Marazzo. There are some exciting features that will be offered on the Marazzo. Things like sunroof, push start and stop. This will make the Marazzo a feature-loaded option. This might be a variant not just for AMT but even for the manual transmission as well.

2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT Specifications

The 1.5-litre diesel engine will continue in the car. Mahindra will use the Magnetti-Marelli AMT unit. The AMT will be a six-speed gearbox with a reverse gear. Mahindra will not do any changes to the engine or the car in any other way. The 1.5-litre mill is very refined. The 2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT will be a great upgrade for someone looking at a big MPV with convince of driving. This diesel engine will come with a six-speed AMT, which will churn about 121bhp of power and close to 300Nm of peak torque. There will not be much of a difference in the performance as the diesel manual also has the same engine.

Mahindra Marazzo Grille

Mahindra also has multiple petrol engine options for the Marazzo. At the moment, the company is waiting for the BS-VI norms. The petrol engine that will be used on this MUV will be BS-VI and it will come by the end of 2019. This is the expected time. This will be offered with a 1.5-litre turbo petrol mostly. At the moment, petrol MUV demand is fairly low, even for the Toyota Innova Crysta. Maruti Ertiga 2018 has a good enough pull for petrol engines and it is likely to dominate in this segment.

2019 Mahindra Marazzo AMT Competition

The Mahindra Marazzo AMT will compete with the Maruti Ertiga and the Renault Lodgy. The Marazzo sits in between the Ertiga and the Innova. We have done a comparison of the Marazzo with the Ertiga and even a comparison with the Hexa and the Innova. Do check out both the videos.

Toyota Ertiga Coming Soon!

Toyota Ertiga

This is true. Toyota will not be just selling the Baleno, but even the Ertiga as well. Toyota is known for its UVs. The Qualis was successful, then the Innova and now the Crysta. This has made room for the Ertiga as well in the Toyota fleet. The Japanese automaker will be getting the Ertiga to the Toyota showroom, with a difference in its design and also a new name. This will mean Toyota will be looking at introducing an affordable 7-seater vehicle in its list.

Toyota hasn’t been successful in the under Rs 10 lakh price bracket and this will be a great opportunity. The Etios family hasn’t been a major success story. Whenever we have spoken about Avanza – a seven-seater Toyota MUV, there has been a lot of excitement in the audience. Ertiga has been well received, so the Toyota brand will get an added advantage with this new product. What will be the changes on Toyota’s version of the Ertiga? We share all the details with you. Stay tuned.

Toyota Ertiga Price in India

Maruti Ertiga 2018 rear motion

The price for the Toyota Ertiga will be about Rs 9 lakhs (on-road) for the base petrol and the top model shall be in the price point of Rs 15 lakhs. This will have somewhat different styling. The tuning of the engine and even the suspension will not be altered. This will mean that the company is looking at offering a range of features to buyers in this segment. Toyota Ertiga – will be about Rs 50,000 expensive than the Maruti. It will have Toyota’s service back-up and of course a bit of more premium-ness in service. That is where it will be heading.

Toyota Ertiga Engine and Transmission

2018 Maruti Ertiga Instrument Cluster

By the time Toyota will get its 7-seater MUV, BS-VI norms would have come in. This will mean that the Ertiga will now have a new diesel engine. This will be a 1.5-litre diesel mill churning about 95bhp of power and close to 200Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This engine will be made available only with a manual. There shall not be an automatic on offer. At the same time, the Ertiga will even get a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This will produce close to 105bhp of power. It shall be micro-hybrid with the start-stop system. Petrol will be paired with a five-speed manual and the other option is four-speed automatic.

Toyota Ertiga Mileage

2018 Maruti Ertiga Headlight

In terms of mileage, the Ertiga petrol will return about 12-13km/l in the city and about 15km/l on the highway for the manual. The Ertiga petrol auto has a mileage of 11km/l in the city and close to 13km/l on the highway. The diesel on the other hand should retun about 16km/l in the city and close to 19km/l on the highway.

Toyota Ertiga Features

In terms of features, the Toyota Ertiga will not be any different from Maruti. The list of features shall be the same on the duo. So, following is what is expected on the Ertiga.

  • Projector headlamps
  • 15-inch tyres
  • LED tail lamps

  • Touchscreen system
  • Android Auto, Apple CarPlay
  • Reverse Camera
  • Climate Control
  • Rear AC vents
  • Cruise Control

  • Dual airbags
  • ABS+ EBD

We aren’t certain if anything else will be offered on it. The looks of the front end and the rear shall be different. Apart from that, nothing major will change on this vehicle. So, it is an exciting phase and we do expect Toyota to get the 1.5-litre diesel engine before Maruti.

Honda Activa 6G Coming Soon

Honda Activa 6G instrument cluster

The Honda Activa received a lot of changes in its last update. A new headlight, an instrument cluster and much more. But with the new Honda Activa 6G, we will see more. The Honda Activa 6G will firstly spot the updated BS6 engine. The bike will also get a mild redesign too. But for the most part, we think that this bike will remain the same. The no-nonsense approach from Honda will continue and the bike will keep attracting a steady stream of buyers.

The pictures shared here are BS6 ready scooter being tested for ARAI’s mileage test. It also appears that the scooter is the Honda Activa 125. The chrome and front design give it away.

The Honda Activa 6G will come next year, It could be shown at the 2020 Auto Expo. The scooter will be one of the biggest launches of next year. While this date is a speculated time, we will get a more solid date closer to when this scooter is launched.

Honda Activa 6G instrument cluster

Honda Activa 6G Price In India

The Honda Activa 6G is going to again come to the market at a reasonable price and we do not expect it increase in price. the Activa 6G should come around Rs 55,000 to Rs 61,000 (Ex-showroom). The scooter will continue to be made using a metal body. This will make sure that the Activa still is an attractive option for its buyers.

Honda Activa 5G Ignition switch

Honda Activa 6G Specifications

The Honda Activa 6G is a bike that has been made with a great amount of understanding from the past. So stuff like telescopic forks will again not make its way on the bike. BS6 is an expensive technology and the price will be further increased if the Activa 6G will be given telescopic forks. The bike will continue with a metal body and the tyres will now get alloy wheels. The 12-inch tyres will get black alloys. There will be the 110cc and 125cc engine on offer with a disc brake up front and a drum at the rear. There will be CBS offered on this bike too. There will be disc brakes. But combi braking will be carried forward on it.

Honda Activa 6G tyres

Honda Activa 6G Competiton

The Honda Activa 6G will continue to compete with the TVS Jupiter and the Hero Maestro. The BS6 laws will mean a definite increase in the price of the vehicles. The increase will also make sure that better equipment and more features are offered.

Hyundai i20 2019 – A refresh. Major change on the next-gen hatch

Hyundaii20 2019 front 2

Hyundai i20 2019 isn’t an all new car. The i20 did get a facelift last year. This was majorly the change from the rear. The company is looking at offering a lot of features in its segment. The i20 did get a major change last year. There was the addition of four more airbags and a new rear end do contribute to the styling. The i20 comes with a range of features and premium interiors. It was the launch of this hatchback that grew this segment by leaps and bounds. After this came the Maruti Baleno and soon the Tata Altroz will also be offered.

Hyundai is offering a strong package, it also got a new petrol CVT as well. This was done to reduce the pricing of the automatic version. Hyundai India has been fairly aggressive for the Indian car market and it will continue to deliver that. A new-generation i20 is also in the making. However, there are a few more products that will be coming in before. There is a new compact SUV – QXi and even the Kona that will come before that. Hyundai new-generation i10 is also coming in before the i20. So, quite a few products are coming in. Let’s understand more about the current-generation.

i20 2018 Side

Hyundai i20 2019 Price in India

The price of the i20 ranges from Rs 5.5 lakhs to Rs 9.2 lakhs (ex-showroom), translating into Rs 6.3 lakhs to Rs 10.3 lakhs (on-road) pricing approximately. This is an all new vehicle. In terms of power and performance, the i20 doesn’t have a lot to say. There are a lot of things that need improvement.

i20 2019 Variants Price in India (ex-showroom)
Era 1.2 INR 5.5 lakhs
Magna Plus 1.2 INR 6.25 lakhs
Sportz Plus 1.2 INR 7.12 lakhs
Asta (O) 1.2 INR 8.06 lakhs
Sportz Plus 1.2 CVT INR 8.22 lakhs
Asta (O) 1.2 CVT INR 9.11 lakhs
Era 1.4 CRDi INR 6.88 lakhs
Magna Plus 1.4 CRDi INR 7.61 lakhs
Sportz Plus 1.4 CRDi INR 8.37 lakhs
Asta (O) 1.4 INR 8.72 lakhs

Hyundai i20 2019 Variants

At the moment, there will be no change in the variants. Do expect Hyundai to add new limited addition variants as the product is coming to its end of life cycle. The Korean automaker is looking at adding multiple new products to its line-up and one of them is the new-gen i20. This year, the i10 will see a major revival. The company will be offering a new product for the Indian car market. The Hyundai product line up for India is extremely aggressive. So, 2019 will see only limited editions on the i20. Nothing more than that. No new engines, transmissions or other features.

i20 2018 dashboard

Hyundai i20 2019 Engine and Transmission

Hyundai is offering a 1.2-litre petrol engine churning about 84bhp of power and about 115Nm of torque. This petrol engine comes with five-speed manual and last year, a CVT was also offered on it. So, the 1.4-litre petrol with four-speed automatic has been discontinued. This new CVT combo, reduces the pricing due to taxation and even adds more value to the content. CVT improves the response and even the mileage. The petrol engine is absolutely silent and has decent performance. There is more than sufficient torque to drive daily in the city. However, it misses out on outright performance when compared to the competition. The diesel engine is a gem. It has amazing performance. This engine churns about 90 horses and it has six-speed manual transmission. It is quick and even quiet. This makes it an exciting package to consider.

i20 2018 CVT

Hyundai i20 2019 Mileage

Here is one area, which Hyundai needs to work on. The mileage of the petrol engine isn’t very high. It is somewhere in the range of 10-12km/l for the petrol manual in the city. This goes up to 15km/l on the highway. The CVT is also somewhat similar. While, the diesel makes up for it. In the metro areas, it has about 16km/l while on the open road the numbers come very close to 20km/l.

Hyundai i20 2019 Interiors

The interiors of the i20 2019 are good looking. It has black and beige combination, which makes it look attractive. The other important aspect of the i20 inside is its quality. Everything feels high quality, and even the touch and feel of materials is fantastic. The competing cars offer more of a basic finish, but the i20 feels plush. Literally! that’s the word. The instrument cluster is made up of twin dials and driver information sandwiched between it. Top-spec model gets leather-wrapped steering wheel. This makes it feel good. There are multiple controls on the wheel – music, telephone and cruise. There are automatic headlamps and evenrain-sensing wipers. The music system on the i20 is excellent, and in our Best Music System under Rs 12 lakhs cars, the i20 system came second. Do, check out the video.

The i20 comes with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD on the Asta (O) variant. The other features are push start and stop, climate control, rear AC vents as well. In terms of space, the i20 is an excellent package. It doesn’t miss out on any of the features. We reckon in this segment, it is the best-vehicle. In our previous comparisons, the i20 did even win against the Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz.

With these new shots of the car coming to light, the car looks like it’s is taking a lot of styling and design inspiration from the bigger Hyundai Creta. The car is looking to shape up more in-tune with the Hyundai families design in mind. The rear tail lamps look like they are smaller and sleeker versions of the Creta’s tail lamps.

We don’t know if Hyundai plans to export this car from India to other nations, but it could definitely be a part of the automaker’s plans. The car which is going to go up against the Brezza, EcoSport and the Nexon is shown testing here. The below pictures of the car are from the rear. The car has been spotted testing again. we will add here that the car has a great amount of inspiration from the Creta, and some might look at it as a mini Hyundai Creta.

The below images will give one a proper understanding of the design and size of the car. The car looks like it’s trying to keep up with the Carlino concepts squared off edges and boxy and tall looks. The rear looks inspired by the Creta to no end and the front is a new face with a new grille design.

On the inside, we can see that the car gets  Creta like seats and big storage area in the center console. The seats have adjustable headrests and the car has a full on black interior. This will be changed for production. The car could get a dual tone beige interior like the Creta, It will get buttons and bits on the dashboard that will come from more premium models in the line up.

 Hyundai Styx Design

The compact SUV concept was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo as the Hyundai Carlino concept. This SUV had boxy styling. Something normally associated with the traditional looks one wants in an SUV. The final product from the concept’s design is cleaner with sleeker and better lines. That is what even the Creta is all about. If you look at the front of this SUV, you shall notice the large front-grille and sleek headlamps.

Hyundai QXi

If we see the spy shots we can see a lot of the design cues from the concept vehicle have been carried on into the production version of the car. The Hyundai Styx looks like it will be borrowing space and practicality in design from its elder sibling the Hyundai Creta. This is Hyundai’s first compact SUV and Hyundai has delayed its MUV plan to get the one faster. There will be some elements from the Carlino concept; however, this will be an all-new SUV in design. The Hyundai Styx will have technology, function and fashion as it three important pillars. The wheel arches are muscular too.

Hyundai Styx Interior

The Hyundai Styx will have macho looks and not a crossover like the design. The Carlino concept showed squarish wheel arches, large size wheels, high ground clearance (at least 195mm) and aggressive styling. The Styx will be a vehicle for daily work use on weekdays and adventure trips on the weekend. So, it will have good space in both the rows and even the boot space should be better than the competition (Just what Hyundai did with the XCent). The length of the Hyundai Styx will be under four meters.

Hyundai Creta 2017 interiors

On the inside, it will have good enough space in both rows. Hyundai has been focusing on enhancing the rear seat space on most of its products, like the Grand i10, i20 and the XCent. The Grand i10 was modified for the Indian car market to increase its wheelbase and rear seat knee room. The boot size too will be large enough for a vehicle of this segment. One of the best bits will be the features on offer. Hyundai will be offering best-in-class features. Hyundai Styx seating capacity is for 5 people only. The car will get a new dashboard with crisper lines than the large and flowing Creta dashboard. It will get the same infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car will get a good amount of storage spaces too. The Styx could also get a sunroof and 6 airbags in its top variant. This will be a good safety measure and also something Hyundai should offer as Mahindra will be offering 7 airbags on the upcoming XUV300.

Hyundai Styx Specifications

Hyundai has announced that the Styx will be getting a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine which will make 116bhp of power. This is the same engine that does duty on the i20 abroad. With Ford offering the Ecoboost engine on the Ecosport. This will be an exciting engine for the Indian market. Tata Nexon has been doing well in the Indian market with its petrol engine. Possibly, this will be an example that Hyundai shall be offering lesser power for better mileage. This engine will come mated to a six-speed manual transmission and there will be an automatic or AMT on offer too. The AMT gearbox could be the one that was offered on the Hyundai Santro recently.

In the diesel, there will be the 1.4-litre diesel producing about 95-100bhp of power. The Hyundai Styx will be sold with these two engines. There will be six-speed manual and even a six-speed automatic transmission that will be offered on both the engines. That is when the compact SUV segment will get something new. There is an option for the petrol automatic but no diesel automatic at the moment. The diesel will be the major seller in this segment. The Korean automaker also has a 1.2-litre diesel engine, but we aren’t certain if that will make it into production anytime soon.

Hyundai Styx Competition

The Hyundai Styx competes with the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Honda WRV, Ford Ecosport and the upcoming Mahindra XUV300. This is one segment that is on the rise and at the moment is one of the fastest growing. Hyundai Styx will add more variety for car buyers and an opportunity to upgrade to an SUV instead of a premium hatchback. Hyundai’s strategy will be to price the vehicle at par with Maruti Suzuki and at the same time even offer more added value for its compact SUV. This has what Hyundai has been with its new products. There is also the Tata Nexon that will compete with the Styx. The Mahindra TUV300 can also be called as competition to this SUV. The competition has now become stiff as other compact SUVs have now upped the game.

There is also the Ford EcoSport and the Honda WR-V, which will be a serious threat to the Styx. These are the new players that have been doing well in the Indian car market. Hyundai will want to counter them all with the new range of its products. Hyundai will be looking at getting the best-in-class space, features, design, performance and mileage on board with the Styx.

Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol: Will get automatic when launched

Vitara Brezza in motion

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the highest selling compact SUV in India. It was the company’s strategy to introduce the Vitara Brezza in diesel only. Some might say this strategy has been paying off as the car is a segment killer but having more options in your hat is not a bad thing. Many buyers are today opting for the petrol offerings from its competitors that come in both Petrol and Diesel versions. Maruti has last introduced the AMT version of the Vitara Brezza and given it a mild facelift. This was done right after the launch of Tata Nexon AMT. Also, with prices coming down now, this car is going to receive the 1.5-litre petrol engine of the Ciaz. The Brezza sells high numbers and the introduction of a petrol version will be beneficial. The petrol variant will lower the price of the Brezza. It will bring down the ex-showroom price under ₹7 lakhs. This is going to be a win-win situation for Maruti. A petrol Vitara Brezza would most likely become the cheapest SUV after the Tata Nexon or at least eat into its sales. The petrol version will be a good option for those who mainly drive in the city. The Maruti petrol engines have always been strong sellers. The Brezza petrol will be more affordable. Also, we think this car could be offered with an AMT gearbox and features like a sunroof, cruise control and an SHVS system.

What kind of power will this engine offer, and what shall be its mileage? Read further to find out about more Maruti Vitara Brezza Petrol

Tata has now unveiled it at the 2019 GIMS. The car has taken inspiration from the Albatross which is a bird that is know to dwell at the sea and can cover great distances without taking a break.

Keep scrolling down to see different pictures of the car.

2019 Tata Altroz

What do you think will be the price, specs and features on this premium hatchback? Will you wait for the Altroz and not buy an i20?

Tata Altroz Launch Date in India

Launch Date August 2019

The Tata Altroz will be launched this year, August. It will be unvieled at the Geneva Motor Show in March. We had earlier reported that the car will be launched around September. We were pretty close. The car will be shown in its production avatar at the Geneva Motor Show. The car is currently undergoing rigorous tests. The pictures of the testing mule of this car have been spotted and released multiple times. Currently, the company is focusing on Harrier, Nexon, Tiago, and Tigor. The Harrier, Tigor and Tiago have their JTP versions were launched recently.

2019 Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz Price in India

Tata 45X Price (on-road price)
Minimum ₹6 lakhs
Maximum ₹10 lakhs

The Tata Altroz is likely to be priced between Rs 6 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs, on-road. Tata will try and undercut the Maruti Baleno in pricing. This will give it a tremendous edge. The car will be manufactured locally. Thus, from the start, this will give it a big edge in competitive pricing. If the pricing of the Nexon is to be considered, then we can safely assume the Tata 45X is going to want a large piece of the segment. The i20, Jazz, Punto, and Baleno are a part of the premium hatchback segment and have shaped the market to their needs. Tata will have to make sure that they give the features that a customer in this segment is used to. Cars sold in this segment carry certain customer expectations and demands that need to be fulfilled by the manufacturer while being very competitively and closely priced. The Altroz is an exciting package and should be offering some good value for money.

Tata Altroz Safety

The Tata Altroz will also be a very safe car when it will launch. The car could get 6 airbags, Traction control, ABS, EBD, ESP and other safety features like Corner Control Stability and also Pedestrian safety.

Tata Altroz Design

When it comes to styling, the Altroz follows the Impact 2.0 design language. This design language is what is to be used by Tata Motors on all its future models. This hatchback is based on the Advanced Modular Platform. This platform will underpin all kinds of vehicles from Tata Motors in the coming times. The Tata Altroz is a futuristic concept. It has sharp lines and a very aerodynamic design. Shod with a sleek front end, the windshield rakes sharply, to give it a very sporty stance. It looks dynamic even at a standstill. The whole car gives off a very athletic vibe. The spoiler looks like a continuation of the roof of the car.

2019 Tata AltrozThe Tata 45X gets a thin grille. It’s fitted with LED headlamps and DRLs. There is going to be a separate grille on the lower part of the front bumper. The front bumper itself looks very big and low. Flared wheel arches make it look muscular. The car is wide enough to rival the likes of Hyundai Elite i20 and Maruti Baleno. The Tata 45X has a long wheelbase. It is low slung and the engine bay is small. This gives us a sense that the cabin shall be very spacious. This is what will be its USP and what customers would like to have in a premium hatchback. The other thing if you notice is the flat bonnet will aid in visibility and make manoeuvring this car in traffic a breeze. The result will be the driver having a relaxed drive.

2019 Tata Altroz

Tata Altroz Specifications

Engine 1.2-litre petrol 1.5-litre diesel
Power 100bhp 110bhp
Torque 160Nm 260Nm
Transmission 5-speed manual 6-speed manual

The Altroz is going to get a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. There could even be a non-turbo version, which will be an entry price point version. This shall be the same 84bhp, we have already seen on the Tata Tiago as well. The diesel might be the 1.5-litre, which will be shared with the Nexon. These are the new generation engines from Tata. The engines will churn about 100-110bhp of power and will be offered with a six-speed manual and also AMT options. These will be the first set of premium hatchbacks that shall get AMT. The engines will be fuel efficient too. The six-speed gearbox will do wonders for the mileage. They might not be the best when it comes to performance, but they will offer a good package, especially at the price this car is expected to come at. It will also be cheaper and more cost effective to have an AMT unit in the car rather than a traditional automatic. This could be one of the same units as seen on the Nexon.

2019 Tata Altroz

However, there is some talk about this car getting a CVT gearbox like the Hyundai i20. The automatics will come in later. This is what most of the Indian car brands have been doing. A bit too annoying habit for all of us. Auto buyers please wait for it.

Tata Altroz Competition

The Tata Altroz will be competing with the Fiat Punto, Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz. Tata Motors is looking at enhancing its reach in this segment. What they will have to offer is the best in class, that is when it will work out. This car is expected to bring some more zing into the segment, which is veering towards SUVs. It is interesting that Tata will be making the car available.

2019 Tata Nexon front grille

Tata Nexon 2019 – it gets minor changes. The Nexon was launched in 2017, and since then it has been a runaway success for the brand. The Tiago is the best-seller followed by Tata Nexon. The Nexon has been made on the Vista platform, however it has been heavily modified. A compact SUV that can go up against the might Vitara Brezza and the Ecosport. Tata Motors has been updating the product often and this is where it shines. The last few updates, have been some addition or removal of features and even the inclusion of AMT in petrol and diesel engines.

We will share with you all the details. The 2019 version isn’t a facelift, as Tiago also hasn’t got one. The Tiago was launched before the Nexon, a year and half before. So, first the Tiago will get an update, which will be later in 2019. The Nexon will get an update as a facelift by the end of 2020. Not anytime before that.

Tata Nexon motion

Tata Nexon 2019 Price in India

Where the Nexon shines is pricing. Nothing in this segment can touch it. As the Nexon comes for Rs 7.5 lakhs (on-road) for the base model. While the rest of the competition pricing starts only at Rs 9.8 lakhs for their base petrol models. So, buyers who are looking at models like Swift, Amaze, DZire, Aspire and even Freestyle will also consider the Nexon. While the other SUVs are a lot more expensive. If you are in the market to get an SUV that is under Rs 9.5 lakhs, this is the only choice. The KUV100 is smaller in size. This gives Tata Motors a complete segment to dominate.

2019 Tata Nexon Interior

Tata cars have always been spacious and so is the Nexon. This is also one of the biggest USPs of the Nexon. In terms of space and features, the Nexon is extremely competitive. The Tata Tiago also uses the same engine, but it gets a turbocharger in the Nexon, for better performance. The power output is also higher. It comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission. This is something unique in this segment for a petrol vehicle.

The other engine is a 1.5-litre diesel engine that churns out about 108bhp of power and it comes with best-in-class torque of 260Nm. The diesel engine is the most powerful one in the segment and this also comes with a 6speed manual transmission. This year the Nexon also got an AMT gearbox too. This engine is a four-cylinder one, unlike the three-cylinder one found on the Tiago. Both engines get multiple driving modes which are Eco, City and Sport.

2019 Tata Nexon Competition

The 2019 Tata Nexon will compete directly with the Ford Ecosport, Honda WRV and  Maruti Vittara Brezza. It also proves to be a bargain when it comes to the Hyundai Certa. In this whole pack the 2019 Tata Nexon stands out as a formidable value for money package.

The rear too is all new and looks more premium now. The overall appeal is now better.

In terms of dimensions, the length has increased a bit and even the height is about 5mm more. The width has also increased. This has improved the space inside the car. The Ertiga now looks matured and more premium. This has worked in its favour and Maruti continues to add more to its current USP of the Ertiga. One of the strongest points for the new Ertiga is its styling. Renault RBC interior revealed in latest Spy Shots

Renault RBC is the French automaker’s answer to the Ertiga. RBC is the internal codename. The RBC will be a seven-seater MUV. This will be based on the Kwid platform and it will be coming in next. The car is expected to be a volume churner for Renault and could be a shared product for the Alliance of Nissan and Renault. Nissan had the Evalia and it did not work out in our market. They will want a car like this to get back in the MUV game. The Renault Lodgy is not performing to the levels of which the automaker would like to see it perform. With the RBC Renault will have some ground rules, objectives and goals in mind, such as-

  • The RBC will be bigger than the Ertiga
  • It will get dual-zone climate control
  • An economical power unit which will be an upgraded engine from the Kwid
  • And it will highly be localized

Kia-SP-production model front

Kia Motors’ production version of the Kia SP concept SUV will be the first car the South Korean car maker in the country. SUVs in India have been very popular with customers and every manufacturer is diversifying their portfolio to accommodate more SUVs. Citron is coming to India with the Aircross, which is an SUV. The upcoming MG Hector from MG Motors will also be coming this year. All this will turn this year into another onslaught of SUVs. The Kia SP is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs (Ex-showroom India). This will make the car highly competitive among its rivals. The car will also be feature packed and will be a great car to consider above the Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass and the Tata Harrier.

There are now some new spy shots that have revealed the car in its production form. Check them out in the story below.

Kia SP India Launch

There is no word on the launch of the SP Concept. It;s right now too early to say anything. The Kia SP India is going to be possibly launched very soon next year or during the festive season. There is a possibility we might see an announcement or a pre-production mule in early 2019.

Car Launch Date
KIA SP November 2019

Kia SP India Price

Internationally Kia has the reputation of being the alternative to Hyundai cars and in some cases, the cheaper alternative. In India, we don’t know how they will handle the market with Hyundai. We do know that they will be competitive. We had predicted that the Kia SP India will not be more expensive than the Hyundai Creta. It should be within the 15 lakh price range. Now we have reports saying that the car will be around Rs 10 lakhs to Rs 16 lakhs. This will make the car a very interesting choice to consider over it’s Hyundai sibling.

Kia SP Concept variants Price
Base variant Rs 10 lakhs – Rs 12 lakhs
Mid variant Rs 12 lakhs to Rs 14 lakhs
Top variant Rs 14 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs

Kia SP India Design

The Kia SP Concept has all the hallmarks of the latest Kia design language. Dominating the face is the ‘Tiger Nose’ grille which part of Kia’s design language. There are sleek headlamps and silver colored bash plate element. On to the side, we see the rear sloping roofline, white coloured roof and massive wheels with the multi-spoke alloy wheel design. The appearance is enhanced by the grey cladding that runs all around the base of the Kia SP India as well as over the heavily flared wheel arches. At the rear, it is a mix of elements thanks to the chrome exhaust setup as well as chrome line that runs across the top section of the body. The chrome also goes through the tail light assembly.

KIA SP India Name

There are many rumours surrounding the name of the car! It will not be called the SP Concept for sure. The name of the car could be Tusker. Many other automotive websites are calling the car this name. We think KIA will have focus groups and research conducted for the most suitable name for this car. It will be a name that is going to attract audiences globally.

Kia SP India Interior

There is no word on the interiors of the Kia SP India. We expect the production guise to get the standard Kia fare that is present on its SUVs, sedans as well as hatchbacks. Given its positioning, we believe that all the D-segment features like a touch screen system, climate control and faux leather upholstery will be a part of the feature package. Since it will go up against the Hyundai Creta, features like a sunroof, cruise control, automatic headlamps, engine start-stop, automatic climate control and wireless charging for the phone are expected. The infotainment system should get Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There should also be a set of fast charging USB ports. The car will also get a lot of storage space, a cooled glovebox and a large centre console. The theme of the interior will be black and beige like other KIA cars we have seen in international markets. The 2nd row of this car will also get a lot of utility in the form of rear AC vents, charging sockets, an armrest and cup holders. The boot space will be ample with a low loading lip.

Kia SP India Spy Shots

This is a picture we have got recently of the KIA SP Concept in its production version; being tested out on the roads and it does bear resemblance to its concept version. The Tiger grille, the large air vent on the bumper and the tapering off headlights do give it an aggressive look. The KIA SP India in some ways does reflect the design language of the Tata Harrier with it’s high mounted DRLs and raised fog lights.

KIA SP India Render

A new rendering of the Kia SP India SUV is also here. Done by Koo Ki Sung studio. This render will be the production version of the Kia SP Concept that made its global debut at the Auto Expo 2018. Here is how it is visualised. The production version of the Kia SP here looks like a slightly toned-down version of the futuristic-looking Kia SP India. The render shows off many of the design elements, including sleek LED headlamps, a wide grille and the auxiliary lamps. The render shows the blacked-out A-pillars and the front bumper is close to the one on the concept model. The design of the Kia Tusker you below in the render is as Kia said, ‘will be very close” to its concept’.

By the looks of it, the SUV should rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur. The SP Concept features sharp design elements such as LED headlamp eyebrows, LED tail lights and dynamic turn indicators on the ORVMs. Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille gets a revised look for India as well. Kia says that the concept features a production-ready design and the one coming to Kia showrooms across the country will look a lot like it. Engine options have not been confirmed, though a 1.0-litre, turbocharged petrol and a 1.6-litre, turbocharged diesel are expected to find their place under the bonnet. Expect the production version of the SUV to be priced withen Rs 10-15 lakh.

We shall update you more on the interior of this car when we know more.

Ventilated Seats

Electrically adjustable mirrors

Alloy wheels

Projector headlamps and LED tail lights

Kia SP Concept SUV 2

Kia SP India Specifications

Nothing on this is out yet. We can say though that there will be the option of one-litre and the newly developed 1.5-litre engine that will be available on this car. The car could have both petrol and diesel engines on option. Both manual and a CVT automatic transmission could be considered for India. AWD is not expected to be offered on the SP as it is not in high demand in India – the Renault Duster is the only SUV in the segment to offer it and it’s not setting the sales charts on fire. There are many details about this car that are yet to come out. Like the Nexon, we could see different driving modes. We could see the Kia SP also get aids like traction control, ESP and cruise control.

One more interesting detail about this car is that the platform of this car will be also used in the upcoming Hyundai Creta 7 seater. The

Kia SP India Competition

The Kia SP will compete with its parent companies car, the Hyundai Creta. The car is expected to also in the future deal with the upcoming Tata Harrier. The Kia SP will have its work cut out for itself when it comes next year. There will be a lot of pressure on this car as it will be their first product in the market. The Tata Harrier and the Renault Kicks will be launched before this car and their will a certain advantage in doing so.

Tata Rs 3 Lakh car coming soon to compete with Maruti Alto

Tata Tiago logo

Just when we thought Tata SUVs are coming into the market at an insane rate, there is now news about the company wanting to jump into another segment. The segment in which many Indians buy their first car. The small car segment where the Maruti Alto rules and the Renault Kwid and the Datsun Redi-GO fight. The Tata Rs 3 Lakh car will be coming to woo first time buyers and an income group that aspires to get on four wheels by spending by the lowest amount of money possible.

“There is still some market volume (in the segment) below the Tiago and Tigor, where we don’t have a dominant play today – but where we would like to have a play,” Guenter Butschek, CEO, Tata Motors told one source.

Tata Rs 3 Lakh car Launch

We have just found out that the car will be made in the future or that Tata even has the urge to make such a vehicle. The car will not be coming right now or anytime soon. The cars like the Tata Buzzard, the H2X and the upcoming updated Tata Tiago will be more important to Tata. An Alto competition car like this will be seen post-2020 or 2021. This will be when Tata has completed the first set of products it envisioned with the new OMEGA and ALPHA platforms.

Tata Rs 3 Lakh car Price

It has to be cheap and cut-throat. The Tata Rs 3 lakh car will be Tata’s second outing in the sub 3 lakh car segment after the Nano. This will mean applying a lot of what the company learned with marketing and the image of the car being intact for buyers to love the product. The pricing of the car will begin at Rs 2.2 lakhs and should go up to Rs 3 lakhs (Ex-showroom, India). This will mean variants will have a base variant, a top variant, an automatic and a factory-fitted CNG model.

Tata Rs 3 Lakh car Specifications

Tata has got a good engine with the 1.2-litre 3 cylinder petrol engine that is offered on the Tiago. The car could be offered with the different and more economical stage of tune or within a few years, we could see Tata make a smaller capacity engine that is more suited to this segment. A 1.0-litre engine is something that Tata could have in the works. It will be economical, easier to pack in a small car. We have seen a small engine from Tata earlier with the 600cc engine in the Nano.

The car will get exterior touches and finishes like – a dual tone color job, DRLs, rear parking sensors, sporty spoiler and turn indicators integrated into the rearview mirrors. The car will also have design inspiration from SUVs in Tata’s line-up. On the inside, we will see a lot of equipment and design from the Altroz and the Tiago make its way there.

Tata-Tiago-JTP Mirror Design

Tata will also make sure that the car is very safe. Tata has been gaining a reputation of its cars becoming safer and better in build quality. The car will be an interesting and overall appealing product to look forward too.

MG Hector to come with eSIM and a personal OS

MG Hector front

Big news! The MG Hector has been finally spotted in production form. The car has been spotted in Britain. Below are the pictures of the car.

MG Hector front

From the front, the car gets a very Tata Harrier like design. The headlights cluster and DRL has a resemblance to the Harrier’s unit. The use of chrome also does not go unnoticed.

MG Hector production form rear

At the rear, we have LED taillights that resemble the Audi Q7 a lot and the dual exhausts look very sporty. What does not look sporty are the tyres. The overhangs make the tyres look tiny.

Another new development is that the car will have tech connectivity features like eSIM. The upcoming MG cars aim at offering a connected mobility experience that would be able to do almost everything that a smartphone can. The OS on this car will be designed to behave in complete pairing with the phone. So a feature like Mirror-Link too can be seen. The platform will not just be able to inform drivers about cars health but can also provide passenger health information. With an eSIM, the MG Hector will offer always-connected experience with navigation, apps, multimedia and transactions as well. This connected car is IPv6 ready and is OTA-enabled. This is similar to getting OTA updates on smartphones and MG could push out software features and inform drivers about the health of car parts, etc directly. The OTA mobility is something seen on Tesla cars. And while having its own operating system, it will come with a separate app for Android and iOS.

MGas decided to introduce the Hector SUV in both diesel and petrol variants at the time of its launch. The 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre compass engines won’t only get a manual gearbox but will also get a 6-speed automatic gearbox too. According to one source, the car will get safety systems like traction control as standard across all variants. The car will also be available with 17-inch wheels as standard. The option of alloys will come mostly from the 2nd or 3rd variant.

MG Hector Key Features

MG Hector! The name ‘Hector’ draws inspiration from the noble qualities of the Trojan warrior hero – Prince Hector of Troy. It pays homage to great British engineering tradition, as a nod to the Royal Hector biplane, used by the Royal Air Force in the 1930s. The car is currently testing in cold weather conditions and will be launched later this year.

Here are five things we think you should know about the upcoming Hector –

  • The MG Hector Will be available with both petrol and diesel engines
  • It is bigger than the Harrier and the Tuscon (scroll down for dimensions)
  • it will be highly localized, MG claims 75% localization
  • The car will get more premium with soft-touch materials, first in class features and a 12.1-inch touchscreen
  • it will be available with a subscription service

MG Hector Subscription

British car manufacturer MG Motors is set to make its entry in India and has collaborated with Indian car-rental service, Myles cars. This collaboration will help customers hire MG Motors’ first entry in India and their latest SUV, the Hector.

MG says that this partnership will allow the company to leverage the existing network of Myles across 21 cities, once the company launches its first model in Q2, 2019. This will be in addition to MG’s own network of 110 sales and service dealerships at the start of sales.

This collaboration is an effort by MG Motors to cater to the evolving requirements of the new age customers, as per Rajeev Chaba, President & Managing Director, MG Motor India. The company also plans to extend the subscription model to its second launch, a full-fledged electric vehicle, by the end of this year.

MG Hector Launch

MG will launch this product in India next year, around April. The vehicle will be made in the MG’s Halol plant. As we have known the Bajoun SUV has been spotted testing in India many times now. This will the first product to be launched in India by MG. MG will be then launching a product every year in India. For the Hector, MG will be launching the car in mid-2019.

So the diesel motor that will be used in the MG SUV will be the Fiat units used in the Jeep Compass. The size of the car will be close to that of the Hyundai Tuscon and the Honda CRV. These attributes paired with a strong pricing strategy will make the MG brand unstoppable. The car is looking to slot itself in the Rs 15 lakhs to Rs 20 lakhs price range. This price range will be a very strong and competitive price segment to get into. With that kind of pricing the car car will be competing with the Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and the Mahindra XUV500.

MG Hector Interior and Design

The interior first! This is where as seen above we have come across some spy shots of the front row of the cars being tested under camouflage. The car looks like it’s borrowing details like the air vents, instrument cluster, door handles and the handbrake lever from it’s SAIC cousins the MG Baojun 530 and the Roewe RX5. The car will get a sunroof, ambient lighting, a digital instrument console and features like lane assist, park assist and 6 airbags for safety. The front driver seat will be electrically adjustable too. Its exterior styling will be very close to the Baojun 530 and will have many design element s from other SAIC products. The interior is likely to be upmarket and plush too, with leather seats, soft-touch materials on the dashboard and chrome surround for the AC vents.

There is some speculation that the Hector will actually be based on the Chevrolet Captiva. The most interesting part of the spy shots(scroll below) is the Hector’s big Tesla like touchscreen and it looks like the car will get a manual gearbox option in India.

MG Hector headlights DRL

The car will also get a DRLs which will turn into turn signals like the Harrier. The below image shows us how this DRL will be an individual unit, separate from the main headlight cluster.

 MG Hector Specifications

The premium car that will be the MG Hector is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 2.0-litre turbo diesel. The manual gearbox is expected to be a 6-speed unit while the automatic is most likely to be a dual-clutch set-up. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol in the MG Hector is going to produce 143bhp of power along with 250Nm of peak torque. Both engines will be sourced from Fiat. The Jeep Compass’ diesel motor will do duty on the MG SUV too. Recently a bunch of MG SUV’s have been spotted along with a Hyundai Tucson. This shows that the Chinese automaker is benchmarking its first Indian product against the premium Hyundai offering. MG Motor India MD, Mr Rajeev Chaba has revealed that the SUV is a mid-sized C segment SUV. It is not a Hyundai Creta or Jeep Compass rival in any way, but a much bigger and a more premium offering.

Apart from this, the car will get 17-inch alloy wheels from the base variant.

MG SUV India

MG Hector Dimensions

Measuring 4,655mm in length, 1,835mm in width and 1,760mm in height, the MG is longer and taller than Tata’s Land Rover-platform-based Harrier and even the Hyundai Tucson. As the Hector will only have seats for five, expect a roomy cabin and a large boot.

Above we can see spy shots of the interior of the car and the car being tested in the demanding high altitude regions of Himachal Pradesh.
