The Nissan brand in India has been facing some stiff competition in sales for a very long time. The manufacturer is now going to switch its attention from small cars and sedans to SUVs. Nissan has a very good history with SUVs and is now going to use that heritage to exploit the Indian customer’s favourite segment. Enter the Nissan Terra. The car that Nissan that will take the fight to the Toyota Fortuner. Everyone is trying it, Mahindra with the Alturas G4 and now Nissan with the Terra. The monopoly of the Fortuner has to be broken somehow by someone.

The car is already on sale in many South-Asian markets like the Philippines. The car is expected to be the next big launch by Nissan after the Kicks. The car will be great here as the market for off-road able SUVs is buzzing and customers are looking for new products to choose from. The car if under planning already will be coming in by late 2019. The car will also have some degree of localization infused before it’s put on sale.

Nissan Terra Price

The cars price is going to be very competitive. If the price at which the car is sold in the Philippians is taken under consideration, IT should come to India at a price of around Rs 22 lakhs to Rs 26 lakhs, Ex-showroom.

The car will come in cheaper than the Ford and Toyota. It will also try and undercut the price of the newly launched Mahindra Alturas G4.

The Nissan Terra gets a very bulky dominating exterior design. The flared fenders, signature Nissan body lines and tall stance will make sure the Terra turns heads whether you’re navigating the city traffic or tackling terrain with no road. Nissan has infused the design DNA of their iconic SUVs to form the backbone of Terra’s rugged styling. Bold design touches can be found in every angle. The car gets LED DRLS with projector headlamps up front and LED tail lights at the rear. There is a certain amount of chrome also in this car.

On the inside, this car will be a very spacious and cool car to be in. The car will have a very plush interior. The leather will be a Nappa with a lot of soft-touch materials on the dashboard. The cars second and third row have elevated seats which will mean that the passengers back there will have a good view of the road ahead. The second-row seats come with a tip-up entry which means easy access to the third row. Plus, with a sliding 60:40 split 2nd row, and 50:50 split 3rd row, there are plenty of cargo-carrying options. Also, the 2nd-row and 3rd-row seats completely recline, allowing your passengers can fully relax.

Also, the second row and third row completely can be folded down electrically. The boot in such a car is obviously a little compromised and has been adjusted to accommodate luggage only when there is at least one seat folded down. The Nissan Terra gets a 7″ capacitive touchscreen display audio onboard entertainment system, the Smartphone Integration, Bluetooth and USB inputs. The instrument cluster gets your fuel consumption details, blind spot warning, lane assist, tire pressure, off-road meter and an off-road meter with steering angle meter. The Nissan Terra gets dual-zone climate control, a flip-down rear monitor, which is going to be a segment first after the MU-X discontinued it. The car also gets rear seat AC control and the glass according to Nissan has Noise reducing glass which is good for insulating the cabin from engine and road noise.

The Nissan Terra will have several variants and will be set up differently with a totally different set of specs and features in each. The thing that will be the same is the 2.5-litre common turbo rail engine which will come with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed automatic. The engine will make around 200bhp and 450Nm of torque.

The Nissan Terra will directly compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour in the higher price range of Rs 40 lakhs. The Terra will also compete with the Isuzu MU-X and the Mahindra Alturas G4 in which are priced a bit lower.
