2018 Jawa launched at Rs 1,64,000 lakhs (Ex-showroom, Delhi), will be called ‘Jawa’

Jawa is back! The wait is finally over. The new bike was unveiled by Anupam Thareja, Founder of Classic Legends Pvt Ltd. Speaking at the launch were Mahindra Chairman, Anand Mahindra and Boman Irani, Chairman and MD of Rustomjee Group. Jawa has been pushing it’s history and biker related content for more than a year now. The bike has been launched and will be called just Jawa. This bike should not be confused with the Jawa 350 which has been launched internationally. We anticipated that this bike will be called Road King but it will be just called Jawa. We don’t know yet. All details will be bought to light tomorrow. This bike is going to use some of the architecture of the Mahindra Mojo in its engine block, apart from which the other bits are all made in Italy.

This bike will compete with the Royal Enfield Classic 350 directly. Mahindra and Jawa will do everything to make sure that this bike comes at a cut-throat level for the Royal Enfield. The 2018 Jawa will come at a smashing price of Rs 1,64,000. This is remarkable pricing which  will make the Jawa an offer that is difficult to refuse.

2018 Jawa Design

This 2018 Jawa is a nostalgia filled throwback in every sense. The overall appearance of the new motorcycle is retro and it’s certain that many design cues from the original Jawa will be carried forward. For instance, the bulging panel on the left side probably houses the battery which was the toolbox earlier. The bike has the dual cigar shaped exhausts and a good amount of ground clearance. The headlight are AHO and regular halogens and they resemble the unit on the Royal Enfields. The bike has a wheelbase of 1365mm and the seat height is around 765mm. This makes the bike a very comfortable cruiser. It will also get a great fat seat which will keep riders happy on long trips. The bike gets 18-inch tyres in the front and 17-inch tyres to the rear. They really give this bike a great stance.

2018 Jawa Pictures

This is one of the first clear pictures of the bike. The above picture shows the bike with a large radiator on the front. The bikes side exhaust pipes look cool too. The engine header has the Jawa logo machined on the side. Also, we can see that front disc brake rotors brakes. The golden calipers are indicative of the bike having Brembos like the Mahindra Mojo.

2018 Jawa 300 Specifications

The new 2018 Jawa will be powered by a 293cc, single-cylinder, four stoke, liquid-cooled engine that features dual overhead camshafts. The engine is developed in Italy, as well as India, and will produce 27hp and 28Nm of peak torque and be paired to a six-speed gearbox. According to the company, the new engine has been developed from scratch and we believe it shares only the very basic architecture with the Mojo’s existing 300cc mill. The motor is BS-VI ready. The 2018 Jawa will also get disc brakes on the front  where it gets telescopic forks and drum breaks in the rear where there is a twin shock absorber setup. The bike gets single channel ABS and a engine kill switch with electronic start.

The Jawa’s frame is also an all-new unit and is completely different from the one seen on the Mahindra Mojo. The chassis is suspended on telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the back. The cradle frame with the forks and ride height setup give it the golden ratio.

2018 Jawa Competition

The 2018 Jawa will be made in India. The returning of the Jawa brand is a very interesting scenario. Royal Enfield will again have competition and the biking world will once again witness a great rivalry. The 2018 Jawa will start production soon. And deliveries will begin in January 2019.
