Renault is launching the Kwid, its new entry-level hatchback at INR 2.85 lakhs (on-road, Delhi). This is the company’s first hatchback for the Indian car market under INR 4 lakhs. This is a direct competition to the Alto 800 and the Eon 800cc as well. Renault has designed the Kwid on the CMF-A platform and this will be powered by a 800cc engine.

The Kwid has 98 percent localisation, which is one of the highest a car has ever offered. It has an SUV-ish ground clearance of 180mm and the boot size is also larger than competition at 300 litres. The Kwid has better rear kneeroom than competition and it has several segment first features like digital instrument cluster, touchscreen system with satellite navigation. Renault has loaded the tiny hatchback with a lot of features and ensured it is the best in its segment.
