Mahindra S101 to get 1.2-litre diesel engine – CONFIRMED

Once again, we have got confirmed information that Mahindra has been S101 will be having only a 1.2-litre petrol and diesel engine. We had confirmed information in April itself, but there were rumours that there will be a 1.5-litre diesel as well. There will be no 1.5-litre mHawk powering the S101/KUV100/XUV100.

The front of the S101 will be derived somewhat from the Ssangyong’s new compact SUVs and this will be done by retaining Mahindra’s design DNA. This will be a five-seater and it will be offered in two-wheel drive only. Mahindra has made three new diesel engines and three petrols along with Ssangyong. The petrol engines are 1.2, 1.6 and 2.0-litre, while the diesels are 1.2, 1.5 and 1.6-litre.

The petrol and diesel engines will be three-cylinder and four cylinder ones will be 1.6-litre for both petrol and diesel. The S101 is clearly targeting first-time car buyers and will be an affordable product for those who need a compact vehicle with high ground clearance. The pricing of the Mahindra XUV100/KUV100 will be about INR 5.5-8 lakhs (on-road). This will also be offered with an AMT (automated manual transmission).

This the Grand i10 segment, targeting first time car buyers. This will best-in class features, high plastic quality plastic, spacious interiors and high ground clearance too.

This is more like a crossover that will be almost the size of the i20 Active, but its pricing will be at par with the Grand i10.
