The TVS Apache has been quite a popular bike with motorcycle enthusiasts and now the company is all set to launch a higher capacity, 200cc version of this sportsbike. The Apache 200 will compete with the KTM Duke / RC 200 and the Bajaj Pulsar RS 200. The RTR series has always been targeting racing enthusiasts and this will be even faster and more fun. The Apache 200 will be priced at INR 97,900 (on-road).

Apache 200cc has its design inspired from the Draken concept. It will be based on the ‘RTR’ platform that also underpins the TVS Apache 160 and 180. The Apache 200 will be powered by a new 200cc, fuel-injection, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. It is built on the existing 180cc engine and will deliver power in excess of 20bhp. The bike will sport the new Michelin soft compound tyres that will provide improved road grip. It will have front and rear disc brakes alongwith a Combi braking system and anti-lock braking system (ABS).

The single-cylinder 197cc motor is essentially a bored out (and thoroughly revised) version of the one found in the Apache 180. This version is oil-cooled (with ram-air trick-technology), the Apache RTR 200 4V is available as both carburettor and EFI variants. TVS is aiming for usable power and has tuned the motorcycle for best performance in the 2000-7000 rpm range. So, there is sufficient torque at most of the engine speeds.
