Tata Zest has scored a 4 star rating in the Global NCAP rating. This is the Zest that comes with dual airbags and ABS. The one without any airbags or ABS (base model) didn’t impress as it scored only one star in child safety. The Zest was launched in 2014. This should help buyers realise how safe the new vehicles are. The company is offering a safety pack from the mid variant itself.

Rohit Baluja, President, Institute of Road Traffic Education has commented, “The concept of star rating should not be limited to compliance, but should be taken as the challenge of producing a safe vehicle that would have the ability to support the avoidance of a crash, limiting the injury to vehicle occupants and that of people outside the vehicle in case of a crash.”

Zest in ‘Buzz Blue’

Tata Motors had launched the Zest in 2014 and that was when it was offering the diesel engine in two states of tunes. One was 75bhp and the other 90bhp. The 75bhp was offering only on the base variant, which was XE. Now, it will be offering this engine on the XM variant too. The company won’t be offering this variant and the XMS (XM with safety package) with alloy wheels for the 75bhp engine. The AMT variant was only offered on XMA during the launch, then it was even made available on XTA as well. This is another upgrade on the Zest.
