Maruti is converting all its 1.

3-litre diesel engines to SHVS (smart hybrid vehicle by Suzuki) and the Swift and DZire are next in line. These two are even due to get the AMT (automated manual transmission) as well, but on the diesel variant. So, now Maruti will be introducing the hatchback and compact sedan together just around Diwali.

This will be the first set of diesel engines to be mated to a Maruti.

At the moment only Tata Motors is offering the Zest diesel with an AMT but soon these two will be joining the bandwagon. The Maruti DZire and Swift will be become a lot more fuel-efficient than the Ciaz, which at the moment has a fuel efficiency of 28 km/l for the diesel engine.

The Swift and the DZire have recently got the facelift and as Magneti Mirelli is increasing its production of AMTs for Maruti Suzuki, there will be an increase their sales. Both these vehicles are leaders in sales figures in their segment and this will further boost the number for the company.

The company has always advertised to become highly fuel-efficient and it will once again achieve higher fuel efficiency numbers once again. Expect an increase in the price by about INR 45,000 for the AMT version and INR 15,000 once SHVS comes in. The AMT will be made available in the VDi variant on the Swift and the DZire might also get one in the ZDi variant too.
