Volvo S90 spotted- Competition to E-Class

Volvo has been testing the S90, its new sedan that will be replacing the S80. The testing has been extensively going on in China and Europe. The S90 has a lot of design similarities to that of the XC90 that has just been launched in India. Looking at the license plate, one can conclude that this sedan on test is powered by the D4 engine that produces 190bhp of power.

Volvo is also working on the V90, which will be replacing the V70 and later on there will also be the V90 Cross Country. These will be based on the SPA platform, like the XC90 and shall be powered by a similar set of engines too. There will be a lot of parts sharing too.

Because of the V90, there will also be an all-wheel drive version of the S90 as well. This will help Volvo to capture some market share in North America, where AWD is generally preferred. This is what even Jaguar did for its US car buyers.

This prototype is still heavily camouflaged but we are expecting a lot of XC90 influences in the design as seen in the head lights for example.

We do expect a lot of similarities on the inside with the XC90 interiors.
