New-gen Peugeot 3008 spotted

There is no hiding that Peugeot is looking make an entry into India. We had spotted the 208 hatchback a few days ago in Mumbai, as the vehicle had come in for testing.

Andreas has spotted the Peugeot 3008 in Europe. The new-generation of the Peugeot 3008 looks more like an MPV than an SUV.

The new Peugeot 3008 will be showcased at 2016 Geneva Motor Show or the Paris Motor Show. The new one being closer to an MPV than a SUV, it seems that Peugeot is moving towards crossovers for the next-gen 3008. The crossover might boost its sales in Europe and we doubt if this will be coming to India anytime soon. Crossover segment is one of the fastest growing one in Europe.

The Peugeot will be coming with three and four cylinder turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. There will also be a plug-in hybrid as well. India might not get the 3008, but if it makes it through than it will be competing with the Renault Duster and the Hyundai Creta. This will be a good segment to enter for Peugeot.

As the automaker is looking at entering India, the compact SUV segment will be one of the strong segments to enter. The hatchback will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine, and for the crossover we can expect a diesel engine under 1.6-litre.

The Peugeot 3008 is front-wheel drive and there will also be an optional AWD too. The French automaker was last time around in talks with the Gujarat government for land buying for their India car plant.
