The drawings of patents of Suzuki’s new crossover based on the iM-4 concept have been leaked. The new car is expected to be launched by the end of 2016.

Suzuki had showcased its concept iM-4 in March this year and it seemed that this would anticipate the next generation of the Jimny. However, it is realized that this will form the basis to a small crossover/off-roader.

The iM-4, therefore, will be a new model that will add to the range of small cars in Suzuki’s line-up alongside the Celerio and Swift.

The dimensions of the iM-4, will be that of a crossover, which means a bit high off the ground and will also be available in with 4×4 and will compete with the Fiat Panda 4×4.

The spy images are taken from the registration of patents by alVolante and show that the production version will be virtually identical to the concept Suzuki iM-4. It has a length of 3690 mm  and the design is characterized by a mix of rounded lines at the front and side, and square at the rear.

A new 1.0 litre, 3-cylinder turbo Boosterjet will do duty in the iM-4 and there would also be 1.

2 litre 4-cylinder Dualjet with a micro-hybrid of Suzuki. This is based on an alternator which integrates within it an electric motor, which helps the start-up and also energy recovery during braking, which is stored in a lithium-ion battery.
