Honda may discontinue the Unicorn 160 by the end of this year, owing to luke-warm demand of the motorcycle. The Unicorn was launched in December 2014 and recently crossed sales of 100,000 units, in the month of July.

The Honda CB Unicorn 160 was launched with great expectations and while the motorcycle received a decent response initially, its sales were never a strong point, especially being a Honda. Competition in the 150cc+ segment has been strong with Yamaha FZ and TVS Apache and has grown with the launch of Suzuki Gixxer 155 and Bajaj Pulsar AS 150. While the Honda Unicorn has a conservative design, the others offer a sportier design that appeals more to the buyers. This Honda certainly, was at bottom when it comes to styling.

The Unicorn 160 has a 163cc engine , which is derived from the Unicorn 150. The motorcycle is not turning out to be as viable as expected, as dealers have been offering discounts on the motorcycle, prompting them to be not to keen on promoting it either.

Honda will soon be launching its new 160cc motorcycle – the CB Hornet, that will take on the likes of the Gixxer, Pulsar, Apache and FZ.  There is chance that Honda may re-introduce the Unicorn 150, at a lower price point to regain market share.
