The next generation VW Tiguan has been spotted, this time in China. The light camouflage reveals the compact proportions and the new design of this SUV, which will be unveiled at the at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

The compact SUV, spotted by Auto Ifeng, will get a VW signature double slat chrome grille and swept-back headlamps. The front bumper also has a twin slats and rectangular fog lamps. The new Tiguan has a curvier design as compared to the Tiguan sold currently and is reminiscent of the Touareg. It has been already learnt that the new Tiguan will also be offered with an extended wheelbase, apart from the standard version.

There would also be three rows of seats with a seating capacity up to seven people and the new version will be 7.9 inches (20 cm) longer than the standard model. This would be based on the MQB platform of VW.

While the standard version will make its debut next month, at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the longer wheelbase version is likely to start production by the end of 2016, in Mexico. The new Tiguan with the extended wheelbase is likely to come to India in early 2017 and will be a desirable vehicle , given the seven-seater option that it offers. It is expected to come with a 2.
