As we had stated in our previous story, the Honda Brio’s next-generation will be made and designed majorly for the Indian car market and is likely to have a 1.1-litre diesel engine. Reports are now surfacing that the new-generation Brio will have a 1.1-litre diesel engine to be competitive in the upcoming small diesel car segment.

This at the moment has the Chevrolet Beat diesel, Maruti Celerio diesel and the upcoming Tata Kite diesel.

This isn’t a major segment, but it seems to get populated very soon. The Brio is currently available only with a 1.2-litre petrol that produces 88bhp of power and comes with a five-speed manual and automatic transmission option.

The current Brio was designed for the South-East Asian market, but the new one shall be made with a major focus for India. An Indian version will be made to cater to our needs and demands, something similar to what the Hyundai has done with the Grand i10 and the Creta. The new Brio will be a lot more feature-loaded and will be a revolutionary product, just like the current-generation Honda City.

Honda is looking at increasing its footprint in the small car segment, beginning with the Brio.

There is a facelift planned for Amaze in the near future and Honda will also be introducing the BR-V next year. The expansion of the Rajasthan plant is in progress and at the same time, the company has even acquired land in Gujarat as well. Honda is very serious about India and it has lined up an array of products for Indian car buyers.
