2017 Audi Q5 spotted testing in India

The luxury crossover from Audi, the Q5 has been in the market for eight years, without any major change. These spy pictures reveal an all new styling for vehicle. The new-generation Audi Q5 has been spotted on test in India. After its recent unveil, Audi will want to get the new-gen quickly to India, as the competition, especially Mercedes-Benz has been outselling others in this segment. The Mercedes-Benz GLE has been a hit and the Ingolstadt-based automaker will want to get a stronger and fresh product to become competitive. The 2017 Audi Q5 shouldn’t be very far from its launch. The spy pictures captured by one of our readers  and close friend Harsh Jhaveri.

2017 Audi Q5 Design

The new Audi Q5 will be based on the MLB platform that does duty in the new A4. The crossover is lighter than its predecessor by about 90 kilograms. Following the new design language, the new Q5 does resemble the current Q3’s fascia. There are subtle differences between the two, however these aren’t major ones. The front grille is made of a sculpturally flared Singleframe grille with a solid frame. In this one, the side profile looks again more crossover like and it seems to be lower than the outgoing version in visuals. The rear is again made up of the same LED tail lamp cluster, which we have noticed in other Audi Q vehicles. The tail lights are also available with optional dynamic indicators. The tailgate wraps around the C-pillars – a typical feature of the Q models from Audi. A diffuser insert integrates the exhaust tailpipes.

2017 Audi Q5 Interiors

On the inside, the new Audi Q5 gets a newly designed dashboard. There is a flat bottom steering wheel and a new layout for the centre console. This seems to be inspired from the Q7, however the AC vents has been limited to the centre console. They do not stretch to the co-driver’s end like the Q7. The dashboard is simple and has minimal buttons this time. There is MMI and a large touchpad also.

As the wheelbase of the 2017 Audi Q5 has been increased, there is more interior space now and at the same time, the new Q5 gets bigger boot too.

2017 Audi Q5 Engine and Transmission

The new Audi Q5 is expected to be sharing its engines with the new A4, which is a  2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol and 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel. A 3.0-litre supercharged V-6, and a plug-in hybrid variant is also likely to be included. The 2017 Audi Q5 will make its world debut in the second half of 2016. It is expected to come to India by the end of 2017. We reckon the Q5 shall be made available with a six-speed and seven-speed DSG box, and Quattro shall be offered on the 2.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel.

2017 Audi Q5 Price in India

Audi will price it competitively. The new Q5 shall cost somewhere about INR 54 lakhs to INR 69 lakhs (on-road).
