Royal Enfield Himalayan will be launched this year between September to November around the festive season. Royal Enfield Himalayan has been spotted without any camouflage by a reader of an auto magazine. The scrambler from the Chennai-based manufacturer will be available with a 410cc and 650cc (twin-cylinder) engine options. The Himalayan will come with a 650cc not a 750cc as it is being rumoured.

The Royal Enfield Himalayan is based on a new platform and new engines too. By 2017, the existing 350cc and 500cc engines from RE will be discontinued to meet the emission norms. The RE Himalayan will be priced between INR 2.8-3.8 lakhs (on-road), depending on the engine.  The styling will be same as spotted. It will have a high-seating and a scrambler like design, dual headlamps and a visor too.

The new engines will have lesser vibrations but the “thump” characteristic of the engine will be retained. Royal Enfield has tested two of its test mules northwards of Rohtang to understand if this bike feels at home. Royal Enfield has ridden it in slush, rocky terrains and even snow to test out the two bikes. It is even said that the company had hired a known rally rider for this task to ensure that the best has been achieved. So, the RE will be the perfect bike for riding to the Himalayans.

Royal Enfield’s Himalayan will be the company’s new flagship model.

Next year, the company will be introducing another new platform on which the next-generation of the current RE will be based on.

This will be a lot more efficient and flexible platform for better ride and handling characteristics. The new bikes will be a lot more modern in terms of equipment and contemporary in design.
