Maruti Suzuki would launch the much anticipated S-Cross premium crossover on 5th August, 2015 in the country.

It would be the first company product to be retailed through Maruti’s new NEXA range of premium dealerships. Maruti S-Cross would be available in diesel fuel trim only with two engines.

Maruti unveiled the India-spec S-Cross at 2015 IIFA Awards in Indonesia last month.

Then, it was showcased to the media fraternity at the recently concluded media drives. The company went ahead and revealed the variant details as well. for those asking, Maruti S-Cross would come in a total of 8 variants. Maruti S-Cross’s entire variant line-up would feature driver’s side airbag as standard safety feature. It would be available in five paint schemes. The crossover SUV can be booked at all company authorized dealerships at a token amount of INR 11,000. It would rival the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and Hyundai Creta in the country.

Mechanically, it would come with two diesel engines – 1.3-litre, four-cylinder DDiS 200 and a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder DDiS 320. Both these engines are sourced from Fiat and S-Cross would be the first vehicle in India to come with the Italian automaker’s 1.6-litre diesel engine. The 1.3-litre engine would develop a maximum power of 89 bhp and peak torque of 200Nm. It would be paired with a five-speed manual transmission, while delivering a mileage of 23.65 km/l. Now, coming on to the heavier and more powerful 1.6-litre motor, it would generate a maximum power of 118bhp and top torque of 320Nm.

It would be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, while it returns an ARAI certified of 22.7kmpl.
