Renault Kwid to come with 1.0-litre engine and AMT

Renault has been preparing to launch the Kwid in the coming months. The Kwid will be competing with the Alto 800 and the Eon.

An engine codenamed as B4A, which is a three-cylinder 800cc petrol engine, will power this and this will be entry-level engine.

However, the French automaker also has plans to introduce the 1.0-litre (codenamed as B4D) petrol engine too on the Kwid at a latter stage.

To keep the product updated there will also be an AMT on offer. Renault will be manufacturing the Kwid first for the Indian market only. It will be having 97 percent localisation and this is what makes it affordable.

Renault will be offering the Kwid with a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen system with satellite navigation. These features will be offered for the first time in a car of this size. The price of the Kwid will be between INR 2.75 lakhs to INR 4.5 lakhs. It should be offered in three to four variants.

Renault is targeting five percent market share with its current portfolio and the French brand is confident to get it with the Kwid. This year it has already introduced the Lodgy and the Kwid will be second new product launch for the company. Renault is offering the Duster with AWD (all-wheel drive system) also, which was launched last year.
