Toyota Fortuner official images released, launch in 2016

Toyota Fortuner’s official images have been released and this new SUV will be making its way into India in 2016. It will be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. The new Fortuner is lighter than the currently sold one and will be powered by a new set of engines that have better performance and even fuel-efficiency. The new Fortuner doesn’t look anything like the current SUV and it has been designed on a clean slate.

The new Fortuner has a sleek design that looks aggressive when compared to the current Fortuner that has a massive road presence. The design is a lot similar to the currently sold Toyota off-roaders with sleek pulled-back headlamps. The side profile somewhat is like the XUV500 with that haunch in its design. The rear is stylish and it does look similar to the renderings.

The interiors of the Fortuner are the place to be. It is far superior to the currently sold one and the design doesn’t look cluttered or confusing. Toyota designers have neatly made the instrument panel and it does look good. The Fortuner gets keyless entry, push start and stop, touchscreen infotainment system, reverse parking camera, chilled glove box and a host of other features too. The Fortuner gets bi-xenon headlamps, DRLs, hill descent and seven airbags too.

There are two engines on offer, one is the 2.4-litre diesel engine that produces 145bhp of power and it comes mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. This engine only comes with a 4×2 option. The 2.8-litre diesel produces 175bhp of power and comes with six-speed manual (4×4) and automatic(both 4×2 and 4×4 options). The price of the Fortuner will be between INR 27-32 lakhs (on-road). This will be so, Toyota will increase the local production of this new SUV. It will be competing with the Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Ssangyong Rexton and even the Hyundai Santa Fe.
