2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport revealed

2016 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been fully revealed ahead of its world premiere on 1st August 2015 at the Bangkok International Grand Motor Sale. The next-generation Pajero Sport would be launched in India after first quarter of 2016, replacing the ongoing model.

It would be manufactured at Hindustan Motor Finance Corp’s (HMFCL) Tiruvallur plant in Tamil Nadu, while challenging the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, Chevrolet Trailblazer and Isuzu MU-7.

The exterior styling of the new Pajero Sport matches a lot to the leaked patent images and renderings. The new iteration of SUV flaunts a dynamic shield front fascia with an X-shaped grille. The SUV would have L-shaped LED daytime running lights. The side profile of the new SUV is unchanged and is carried over from the current-gen model. Coming to the rear profile, it has vertical tail-lamps, which is quite different from the current model.

The overall designing of the new-generation Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been inspired by the GR-HEV concept, which was revealed at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

As for features, it gets 17-inch alloy wheels, 8-way adjustable driver’s seat and steering mounted controls as standard.

Being based on the new Triton (L200) pickup truck, the SUV would be powered by an all-new 2.4-litre four-cylinder MIVEC turbo-diesel engine. This engine would churn out 179bhp of top power and 430 Nm of torque.

It would be linked to a six-speed gearbox, while getting a 4X4 drive system. Currently, Pajero Sport is the only model on sale for Mitsubishi in India. However, the company plans to expand its portfolio by introducing a couple more vehicles in form of new Outlander and Montero. By launching, both the aforementioned products, it would have a product above and below Pajero Sport. In addition, the company intends to take the number of dealerships in India to 50 from the existing 43 by the end of this year.
