2016 Toyota Fortuner spied before launch

2016 Toyota Fortuner has been spied in its production-ready avatar ahead of its global unveiling scheduled to take place on July 17, 2015 in Thailand. The updated SUV was spotted at a cargo and it seems like the dealer dispatch of the new-generation Fortuner has commenced in Thailand. It would be launched in India by the mid of next year and would be manufactured locally at TKM’s production facility in the country.

Going by the rear spy-shots, it seems as if Range Rover Evoque is being carried instead of Fortuner; such is the similarity.

The way, rear windows have been integrated with the rear windscreen, it seems totally Evoque. Also, one can see handful of chrome highlight, which runs with the length of the window line. For those asking, 2016 Toyota Fortuner is based on Hilux Revo pick-up truck. It is expected to come with 18-inch alloy wheels as standard. We earlier reported you that new Fortuner would come with four diesel variants and one petrol variant. However, India would only get the diesel variants. The interior cabin, as speculated earlier, would be different from that of Hilux Revo.

The refreshed Fortuner SUV would have several top-notch safety features in form of dual front airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) as standard. As for comfort features, it would have Start/Stop Engine button, Automatic climate control, and smart entry as standard.

New Toyota Fortuner would be powered by company’s new ‘GD’ series of diesel engines. It would get a 2.4-litre, four-cylinder engine and a 2.8-litre diesel engine, apart from the retained 2.7-litre petrol motor. The engines would be paired with both six-speed manual and auto transmissions, while a 4X4 drive system would be offered with the range-topping variant.
