Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the S-Cross compact SUV in the first week of August 2015 in the country. We reported you earlier that certain company dealers had unofficially started taking bookings for the S-Cross at a token amount ranging between INR 21,000-51,000. But now, the company has officially announced that S-Cross can be booked at any company authorized dealer outlet by paying INR 11,000.
Maruti S-Cross was recently unveiled in Mumbai where the company divulged the information regarding its variants, features and engine specifications. The S-Cross premium crossover would be launched in four trims – Sigma, Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. It would be retailed through Maruti’s exclusive Nexa range of premium dealerships. As for features, the S-Cross would get all the bells and whistles seen with other compact SUVs such as cruise control, rain-sensing auto wiper, all wheel disc brakes, auto dimming IRVM, HID (High Intensity Discharge) head-lamps with auto light-on function and Smartplay infotainment system with reverse parking camera. Just so you know, Maruti S-Cross would be available in five exterior shades: Caffeine Brown, Urban Blue, Pearl Arctic White, Premium Silver, and Granite Grey.
Mechanically, it would be offered in diesel guise only – at least initially. The company would introduce S-Cross with two diesel motors – 1.3-litre, four-cylinder Multi-jet engine and 1.6-litre, four-cylinder Multi-jet engine. The former would generate 89bhp of top power, while the latter would belt out 118bhp of maximum power. Maruti has ruled out the possibilities of launching an automatic variant or an all-wheel-drive variant of the S-Cross. All the variants would come with manual gearbox, delivering high fuel efficiency. The S-Cross would be Maruti’s answer to the likes of Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, and Hyundai Creta. Expect the pricing in a domain of INR 8.5-13 lakhs (on-road).
