New-Generation Toyota Fortuner unveil on 17th July

Toyota Motor Thailand (TMT) has announced the world premiere of next-generation Fortuner SUV on 17th July, 2015 in the country.

Eariler, the global debut of 2016 Toyota Fortuner was speculated to be taking place on 28th July at Toyota Motor Thailand’s press conference, but now as the company has sent official invitation regarding 17th July, it is confirmed. The new Toyota Fortuner would be launched in India early next year replacing the current-generation model.

The new-generation Fortuner SUV would be sharing its architecture and interior cabin with the Hilux Revo pick-up truck, which was unveiled just a couple of months back.

Underpinning an all-new ladder-frame chassis with enhanced focus on safety, it would also debut the company’s newly-developed ‘GD’ series of four-cylinder diesel engines.

Several images of the SUV have been leaked, and they provide a sneekpeak of the SUV’s overall exterior styling.

The new Fortuner would flaunt a Lexus-esque front fascia with a ‘hanging’ C-pillar. The new Fortuner is expected to be launched in India in early 2016 and this time Toyota India would assemble its engines at its newly set-up new engine manufacturing facility near Jigani, Karnataka.

As for interior features, the next iteration of Toyota Fortuner would have a free-standing seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a new multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel. The new SUV would have come loaded with 7 airbags as standard safety features. Mechanically, it would be powered by the new 2.

4-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine and a bigger and more powerful 2.8-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. These engines would be coupled with six-speed manual gearbox and automatic transmission. The new Fortuner would be available in both 2WD and 4WD trims, while challenging the likes of Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Chevrolet Trailblazer, Hyundai Santa Fe and Isuzu MU-7 in the country.
