Honda ships 2336 units of Jazz to the dealers

Honda Cars India, in its June 2015 sales report, has announced that its upcoming Jazz hatchback has secured 2336 bookings. Just so you know, all-new Honda Jazz would be launched next week on 8th July 2015 in India. We earlier reported you that all the authorized dealerships of Honda across the nation have started taking bookings for the Jazz hatch at a token amount of INR 51,000.

The Japanese automaker also recorded monthly domestic sales of 18,380 units in June 2015 against 16,316 units in the corresponding month last year, henceby registering a growth of 13 percent. The biggest sales grosser for the company was the City mid-sized sedan, whose 7,187 units were sold in June 2015. The City sedan was followed closely Amaze compact sedan, which went on to sale 6,834 units. Speaking on the company’s performance Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Sr. Vice President – Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd. said, “We would like to thank our customers for the continuous support to all our models and are confident that we will continue to do well in respective segments. Currently, we are excited about the launch of the new Honda Jazz which we believe will help us make further inroads in the Indian market.”

Additionally, Honda was able to achieve a significant growth of nine percent in Q2 2015 as it sold 44,447 units during April – June as against 40,718 units sold during the same period last year. As for Jazz, Honda has quite high hopes from the hatch in its second innings in India due to its dismal performance in the first outing in 2009. For the first time ever, the Honda Jazz would come in a diesel avatar, housing the company’s 1.5-litre, four-cylinder i-DTEC engine with 99bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. In addition, Honda Jazz would also come with CVT automatic gearbox in its petrol version, plus paddle shifters. It is expected to be priced in a range of INR 5.5-9 lakhs (On-Road) due to high level of localization, unlike its first stint. It would directly rival the Hyundai Elite i20 in the country.
