Mahindra Jeeto launched – UPDATED

Mahindra & Mahindra, the home-grown automajor has announced that it would launch its new microtruck Jeeto (P601 codenamed) on July 24, 2015 in the country. Mahindra Jeeto would be challenging the highly successful Tata Ace. It would be maufactured at company’s Zaheerabad production facility in Telangana. Recently, the front fascia of this mini truck was unveiled at the inauguration of Mahindra’s new extenede facility at Zaheerabad.

Although, the mini truck has been spied several times as test mule, but Mahindra has been quite mum regarding the details. The company has described Jeeto as a versatile new product to cater to the varied needs of the small commercial load segment customers. Talking about its name Jeeto, it means ‘Win’ in hindi and according to Mahindra, it stand for the Mini truck’s highly efficient performance for last mile distribution of goods. Reportedly, it is based on an all-new platform with a payload capacity ranging between 600-800 kgs. As for features, it would get a dash-mounted gear lever, a mobile charger, and provision for audio system. Apparently, Mahindra has invested around INR 250 crore at its Zaheerabad manufacturing plant.

Mechanically, Jeeto would be powered by a new generation m-Dura engine with direct injection. The engine would be further optimized for refined performance and fuel efficiency, according to a statement released by Mahindra. Mahindra Jeeto would share its interior with company’s another truck Maxximo, which rivals the Tata Super Ace. In addition, it is learnt through various sources that Mahindra is also planning to roll out a heavy duty version of its Maxximo Plus truck. The company is eyeing an increase in its market share in the LCV segment with both these new products in the country.
