Toyota would launch the much-anticipated next-generation Innova MPV in India in 2016.

But before coming to India, the next-generation Toyota Innova would have its world premiere in coming one or months. Going by the various spy-shots, the new Innova seems to have grown up a bit and looks bigger. We have managed to gather some vital information regarding the Innova, which we are delighted to share with you all.

It is being learnt that sales of the new Innova would be limited to personal buyers, alebit for a year only. The production of the ongoing model is going to end after three months, thus making way for the new-generation Innova. Significantly, the pricing of new Innova is expected to be a bit higher than the current one as the on-road price of range-topping variant of new Toyota Innova is expected to be around INR 20 lakhs mark. Commercial buyers need not to worry as the Japanese automajor would continue the production of current Innova’s popular GX variant for a year. Apparently, the new-generation MPV would have a fresh interior cabin with a new infotainment system borrowed from the Toyota Hilux Revo.

Just so you know, the new Toyota Innova MPV would be based on an all-new ladder-frame platform, which also does duties to the recently unveiled Hilux Revo and the upcoming next-generation Fortuner. The MPV would be better than before in every aspect, especially the safety features would be exquisite as the MPV would get seven-airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist.

Mechanically, it would be powered by Toyota’s new GD range of diesel engines that include a 2.4-litre and a 2.8-litre. They would be manufactured locally at new engine plant in Karnataka. These engines would be linked to six-speed manual as well as automatic transmissions.

Toyota Innova is challenged by the likes of Renault Lodgy, Honda Mobilio and Maruti Ertiga.
