BMW India considering 320i and 320d for facelift engines

BMW had recently imported the 320i and the 320d for testing purpose.

However, we have learnt from a few dealerships that the plan is to get the 320i and the 320d with the 3 Series facelift, which is due to come in by this year end or early next year. The 328i was never sold in that good numbers and there wasn’t much demand for this model.

However, the dealerships state that with a smaller petrol engine, it becomes cheaper than diesel and this means there are more buyers who look at upgrading to the 3 Series instead of buying a 1 Series or not at all buying a luxury car.

With the 320i, BMW will appeal to a lot more luxury car buyers, and the 328i had a very limited number of buyers. For those who need a sporty drive, the 328i is the perfect sedan, but majority needs purely luxury and this can be achieved with the 320i. So, the 320i and the 320d do the job. Some dealers even believe that 328i could be replaced by a more powerful diesel option like a 325d, which can get similar or maybe even better numbers than 328i. 

The 3 Series facelift images were revealed recently and it is available in a couple of new engine options in Europe and North America. For India, it isn’t likely to get any new engines, maybe a 1.

5-litre diesel could be considered but that won’t be at least in this year.
