A black colour YZF-R3 has been spotted in Mumbai at a Yamaha dealership. This bike has been due to be launched this year and this is an indicator that Yamaha will be launching the YZF-R3 very soon. The YZF-R3 has a twin-cylinder 321cc liquid-cooled engine that churns out 41bhp of power at 10,750rpm and 29Nm of torque at 9,000rpm. This comes with a six-speed manual transmission.

This engine has been derived from the R25’s engine and is a direct competition to the Ninja 300. Yamaha had plans to get the R25 many years ago, but now they decided to pitch in the R3 to compete directly with the Kawasaki Ninja. All depends on how well does Yamaha price the bike, in its about INR 3-3.

2 lakhs (on-road) then it will be a good valie for money proposition. There are the CBR 250R and other 250cc single-cylinder bikes, but the Yamaha is a twin.

The Benelli 300i could also be considered as a competition to the Yamaha, but it doesn’t have full-fairing like the R3 and the Ninja 300. The bike weighs 169 kilograms and has a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. The front has a telescopic fork and the rear has a monoshock.

The bike has a 50:50 weight distribution.

Considering the segment, it should have ABS as a standard feature.
