While speaking to CNBC TV18, Mayank Pareek, President, Tata Motors, stated that the Tata Hexa will be launched this year. The Tata Hexa will be the company’s flagship model and will be replacing the currently sold Tata Aria. The Hexa is a six-seater and hence the name.

The Hexa is powered by a 2.2-litre VARiCOR engine that prodcues about 156bhp of power and 400Nm of maximum torque. This comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission and there could even be an automatic variant too. Tata has tested the Aria previously with the six-speed ZF transmission.

Tata Hexa Concept 1

The Hexa was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show and it based on the Aria platform (X1), but has undergone many cosmetic and mechanical updates. The Aria was the most feature loaded Tata product, but the Hexa has good a lot more additions over the existing Aria. The Hexa’s interiors have been redesigned and it has everything new from the dials to the air-con vents to the steering wheel. It has a high-resolution touchscreen infotainment system and several other bells and whistles.

Tata Hexa Concept 2

This is a new-age crossover and Tata Motors is working towards delivering an all new product with the name of Hexa.

This is what it did with the Bolt and even the Zest. Now, it is looking to turnaround things with the Hexa in the crossover segment. This will be competing with the Toyota Innova, Renault Lodgy and even the Honda Mobilio. We aren’t sure if the Hexa will also be made available in 4×4, like the previously sold Aria.

The Aria might be even discontinued as well.
