Maruti Suzuki has been working on an AMT (automated manual transmission) variant of the Swift and DZire for a while.

Our friends at GaadiWaadi have spotted the Swift DZire AMT, while it was being tested around Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant. Maruti Suzuki will be introducing the AMT variants on the diesel engine.

This is a 1.3-litre diesel engine that produces about 75bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque. This engine powers the Swift and even the Swift DZire. Tata Motors is the only company to have a diesel AMT at the moment on the Zest, which also comes with the same 1.3-litre multijet engine.

The Swift DZire will get AMT in the VDi and ZDi variants. The Swift DZire’s AMT will be called as EasyShift. The increase in price for the Swift and the DZire will be about INR 40,000 when compared to the on road price. Both these cars will be launched around the festive season. The badging on the car will be of “EasyShift”.

The Swift and the Swift DZire will be be getting a different gear-level when compared to the Alto and the Celerio. We can look at the images of the interiors too.
