Maruti Suzuki Celerio launch is around the corner and the details of the car are out.

It will have a two-cylinder 793cc diesel engine that will produce 47bhp of power at 3500rpm and 125Nm at 2000rpm.

As per the ARAI cycle, the Celerio diesel will be returning 27.62 km/l.

This is Suzuki’s first designed and developed engine and the 1.5-litre engine will be the four-cylinder version of it.

That will power the other Maruti Suzuki engines. As stated in our previous report, the Celerio wears the DDiS125 badge stating the 125Nm of torque it will be producing.

Celerio ZXi AMT

The Celerio diesel will be launched in the first week of June, ideally 3rd of June. The Celerio diesel will be competing with the Chevrolet Beat and the Hyundai Grand i10 diesels, however this is the smallest diesel engine of the lot and likely to be the cheapest also. Maruti Suzuki won’t be introducing this with an AMT (automated manual transmission) and this will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission. Maruti Suzuki will not price is very high and it will be about INR 40,000 more than its petrol cousin. The diesel engine will be available in LDi, VDi and ZDi variants.
