We had previously reported that Audi has plans to postpone the launch of the next A8 as the Ingolstadt-based automaker was working on self-driving.

Now, the company has announced that it will be introducing the A8 with self-driving mode as well.

The new Audi A8 will offer several new features like in-car gesture controls and organic LED.

The A8 will be the first of the Audis to adopt to the new design language of Prologue concept.

In conversation with AutoExpress, UK based magazine, Audi’s technical development chief Ulrich Hackenberg said “The A8 will be the next-generation of the every successful vehicle model for Audi, so what we are doing is looking at which future technologies make sense for our customers, what do they expect and how can we surprise out customers.”

AUDI PROLOGUEThe autonomous system shall be using a series of long-range radar sensors along with 12 ultrasonic sensors, laser scanners and video camera. These will work in tandem with each other and help the car through traffic up to speeds of 50km/hr.

Audi has been working on the integration of organic LEDs as well for the interior display, this in turn will be operated by gesture control.
