Mercedes-Benz will be launching the new GLE-Class in India before the festive season and the deliveries will commence in August.

The bookings for the GLE-Class have already commenced at all the dealers as we confirmed with a couple of dealers who are already taking orders. Mercedes-Benz’s ML-Class is one of the best-selling SUVs in its segment and there has been a lot of waiting, while the competition is giving discounts.GLE-Class

The ML-Class will get a facelift soon and it will be renamed as the GLE-Class, as per the new Mercedes-Benz nomenclature. The GLE-Class will retain the same 250 and 350 CDI engines. There isn’t a major difference in the styling of the GLE-Class and the ML-Class, be outside or the inside.

The headlamp styling is in line with the new-generation Mercedes-Benz products. Then there are the alloy wheels too. The GLE-Class will get some upgrades on the inside too with a new COMAND system with a larger screen and mostly even a new instrument cluster. The pricing of the GLE-Class will be INR 50-63 lakhs (on-road).

This is at par with the competition like the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3, with the X3 being the recently upgraded one.

The company’s Chakan plant is the second plant outside Germany where their SUVs are assembled. Mercedes-Benz will be launching 15 products this year and inaugurating 15 new dealers this year. This will be the company’s first SUV launch for this year.
