Honda will be launching the new-generation Jazz on the 8th of July, as per one of our sources. The Jazz is based on the same platform as the City and this time the premium hatchback will even made available with a diesel engine. The Honda Jazz will compete with the Hyundai i20 Elite, which is also available in petrol and diesel.

The Honda Jazz will have a 1.2-litre petrol engine with an option of automatic and manual transmissions, while the diesel is a 1.5-litre and it will come with a manual transmission. Honda City sales are on the rise, while there has been a slide in the numbers of the Mobilio and the Amaze. At the moment, neither i20 or the Swift is available with a petrol automatic, so it will be a market that Honda will capture with the Jazz, though a niche one.

The Honda City petrol and diesel both are doing well and the Japanese manufacturer is confident that the same will happen with the Jazz too. In the entire Honda range under INR 10 lakhs, only the Brio doesn’t have a diesel engine. The CR-V also has a petrol variant only. Honda Jazz’s pricing will be between INR 7-9.5 lakhs (on-road price) approximately. Honda has seen a growth in its numbers and now with the Jazz, it will see a further boost. At the moment, both the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai i20 Elite are selling possibly their best numbers, so it could get a bit tough for the Japanese car maker.
