Maruti Suzuki Celerio diesel isn’t far away from launch

Maruti Suzuki’s Celerio diesel has been spotted, and this time it is the dealer cars that are getting ready to be shipped. The Celerio diesel has 125 written on it, which indicates its peak torque. The 793cc twin-cylinder engine will churn out 48-53bhp of power and will have 125Nm of maximum torque.

All the cars that are spotted in Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar plant are blue in colour. The Celerio diesel will be made available in LDi, VDI and ZDi too and it have the same set of features like the Celerio petrol. The Celerio diesel pricing will be between INR 4.6 lakhs to INR 5.6 lakhs (on-road after taxes), with a difference of about INR 45,000.

At the moment it will be the manual version of the Celerio and the diesel automatic isn’t a part of the plan. The Celerio diesel is likely to return a fuel efficiency of 30km/l as per the ARAI cycle, which will make it the most efficient car in the country. However, the real world driving mileage will be less than 30. The launch of the Celerio isn’t far enough, expect the launch to happen in June.

The Celerio diesel will compete with the Chevrolet Beat diesel, and the soon to be launched Tata Kite.

This will be the smallest diesel engine in the country and Maruti Suzuki will be introducing it on the next-generation Wagon R and Alto too. The Carry commercial vehicle will also be plonked with this same 800cc diesel engine.

This will be the company’s first pick-up commercial vehicle.
