BMW in an interview said it would be launching the X5M and X6M this year. In our conversation with Mr Joe King, Head of Audi India today, Mr King told us, “Audi has plans to enter the performance SUV segment, but it won’t be in this year. We have already frozen our plans for this year, and there are other products that we think are our priority.

Audi has a range of performance SUVs in the S and RS segment. Mercedes-Benz was the first manufacturer to get into this segment, and now BMW and Land Rover will be too entering into this segment. Land Rover’s new Range Rover Sport SVR will also be coming to India this year itself.

Audi will be introducing the facelift Q3 and the new-generation Q7 this year.

Audi has plans to have 10 launches this year in total and the Ingolstadt-based manufacturer will be looking at increasing its touch points in India by about 15 per cent. Audi is looking at increasing its sales point and at the same time enhancing its Indian portfolio.

Joe King stated, “ We are looking at entering new segments. The A3 Cabriolet sales have exceeded our expectations. Audi will be entering new body styles, and we will have three new products.” Audi’s next launch is likely to be the facelift version of the Q3.
