Tata Tiago NRG launched at ₹ 5.49 lakhs (ex-showroom)

Tata Tiago NRG has been launched today. This is the new cross version of the Tiago. Tata Motors is looking at cashing in on the Tiago success story further. This launch is an important step in the future of the Tiago. Very soon the company will also launch the JTP version, which is a sports variant of this hatchback. The Tiago NRG comes with a range of features and specifications that make it an exciting package. This car is Tata’s answer to the Maruti Celerio X and Ford Freestyle. This was a segment in the hatchback market that is still new and Tata would want to fill the gap with its own product. The NRG is a competitive variant and is sure to do good to the Tiago brand.

Tata Tiago NRG Price in India

Prices of the Tiago NRG start at ₹5.49 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi) of the petrol. The diesel version is priced at ₹6.31 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The price of the car sits between the regular Tiago and the JTP variant that is soon going to be launched very soon.

Tata Tiago NRG Design

The Tiago NRG will not only get cosmetic updates but also be jacked up. The cross hatch will live up to its design with a ground clearance of 180mm. This has been increased by 10mm over the current Tiago. There is the distinguishing black plastic cladding all around the car. This will be accompanied by the dual-tone 14-inch alloy wheels. These are new set of alloy wheels that are offered on it. In terms of dimensions there is no change in it. There will be also a black roof, smoked headlamps and plastic element for the badging on the car. The front bumper has been revised and it gets skid plates on it. The rear of the Tiago NGR is a tad different from the regular version of the Tiago. This makes it look appealing and stylish. There is a clear distinction between the siblings.

Tata Tiago NRG Interiors

On the inside there are some changes. The Tiago now gets a five-inch touchscreen system with reverse parking camera. Of course there are reverse sensors too. There is an app that connects to the system for navigation. It has four speakers and four tweeters on offer too. This isn’t available on the conventional Tiago.

The fabric on the seat has changed. It has a denim feel to it. This makes it feel sporty. The dashboard is all all-black instead of the grey on the Tiago. There is cooled glove box and even orange accents on the dash. As this is a variant of the Tiago technically, it doesn’t see any change in dimensions. The boot space is the same at 242 litres, which is just sufficient for a car of this size.

Tata Tiago NRG Specifications

The Tata Tiago NRG is available in both petrol and diesel variants. While that is a good option for customers to choose from, the car will be available with only one trim option. The petrol motor is a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder unit which puts out 84bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The oil burner is a 1.05-litre mill which is capable of 69bhp and 140 Nm of torque. The leaked spec-sheet only lists a standard five-speed manual transmission. There could be an AMT on offer in the future too. At the moment there is no clarity on this. It is leaked spec sheet and not anything officially revealed by Tata Motors.

Tata Tiago NRG Mileage

The engines on the Tiago and Tiago NRG are the same and there is a minimal change in a mileage. So, expect the petrol engine to return about 12-14km/l in the city and close to 16-18km/l on the highway. While the diesel returns about 15-18km/l in the city and close to 20-22km/l on the highway. This is a highly fuel-efficient car.

Tata Tiago NRG Competition

The Tata Tiago NRG will square off with the Celerio X, the the Ford Freestyle and the Toyota Etios Cross. These cars all belong to a class of cross-hatchbacks which are normal hatchbacks prepped to take on more.
