Audi to add a sporty undertone with SQ7

A test mule of the sportier version of the Audi Q7, namely the SQ7 has been spotted, that too uncamouflaged, which gives an insight into what can be expected in this new version. The SUV sports two pairs of exhaust tips, low profile tyres and alloy wheels with an interwoven design through which the large drilled disc brakes  are visible.

It also has the SQ7 logo prominently placed on the tachometer dial. All these elements certainly add to the sporty appeal of this big SUV.

While the exact powertrain used on the car is not clear, rumours suggest that Audi could use a 3.0 litre V6 bi-turbo TDI engine churning out 380bhp, with an electric turbocharger, or could also go in for a bigger V8.

Audi has offered the SQ5 with petrol engines in certain markets like the US, hence there are chances that they might also introduce a 4.

0 litre V8 petrol that does duty in the S8, with 429bhp. The production version might do more to enhance its sportier looks, with a lower stance and “S” style front and rear bumpers. The Audi SQ7 is expected to on sale in 2016 and will be lighter than the current Q7, while retaining the same size.

The new generation AudiQ7 with a 3.0 litre V6 engine, is expected to come to India by this festive season. The SQ7 can be expected by the end of 2016 or early 2017.

The market for sporty versions of luxury SUVs in India is growing with the launch of GL63 AMG and the Range Rover Sport SVR, slated to arrive this year.
