Maruti Suzuki Across will be making its way into India very soon, however the same styling vehicle has been showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show in China. The version that is sold in Europe has somewhat different styling, but the India-spec car will look a lot similar to the one showcased in China.

The front grille gets a lot of chrome and even the front bumper has been redesigned to a certain extent. Chrome is considered to be premium in India and China and that is one reason why Maruti Suzuki will be adding this on the Indian-spec car. Maruti Suzuki couldn’t get the S-Cross name and hence they might be using the Across tag.

The Maruti Suzuki Across will come with a 1.4-litre petrol engine and the diesel is likely to be the 1.5-litre diesel engine, which will Suzuki’s in house developed diesel engine. There are rumours that the Across will be powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine, however it doesn’t look feasible as the pricing of this SUV shoots up and at the same time, the 1.5-litre engine will also be used on the Maruti Suzuki YRA, which its premium hatchback. So, why will the brand start manufacturing this engine in India, unless it is considering to export it.

In terms of features, the Across will get in-built touchscreen system with Bluetooth, iPod and USB connectivity, steering mounted audio controls, ABS and even airbags. The Maruti Suzuki Across will be competing with the Renault Duster and Nissan Terrano.
