Hyundai to refurbish its dealerships to make it more premium

As mass car brands like Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai are growing their presence in the premium vehicle segment, both of them are looking at different means to attract premium set of audience. As Maruti Suzuki is looking at setting up separate dealerships for its premium range of vehicles, Hyundai will be upgrading its existing range of dealerships all across the country.

Maruti Suzuki will be calling its new premium dealerships as Nexa, while Hyundai will be revamping its entire set of 415 dealers in the country. Both of them together have a market share of about 60 percent in the 2.5 million Indian car market and now they want to target the premium car buyers with their new set of products. For this reason, both the companies have asked their dealers to upgrade their showrooms.

Hyundai will be refurbishing all its dealerships by 2017-18 under the GDSI norms. “The Indian customers are changing. They are not just getting younger, but also seeking to have a richer touch-and-feel experience by upgrading to bigger cars,” says Mr Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president for marketing and sales at Hyundai to ET.

Hyundai has changed its dealership interior colours already from blue to a sober brown. The costing would be about INR 10 million and majority of the spendings would be on modern furnishings, open space and a new set of gizmos. While Maruti Suzuki is looking at setting up its new and separate set of premium dealerships that are likely to be called as Nexa or Auros. The premium car market is growing at a very fast rate and it seems that none of the two major sellers will want to miss out on this.
