One of KTM’s Indian dealership will be displaying the KTM 1190 Adventure R, just ahead of the showcase. Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM had stated that the brand was working towards offering an adventure model in India sometime soon. He has further said that the bike would be introduced through the CKD route hinting that the company was targeting an aggressive price tag, which is non other than the Adventure R.

The Adventure R is a V-twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 1,195 cc engine capable of 150bhpthat comes mated to a six-speed transmission with a hydraulically-operated slipper clutch.  An upside down WP suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear are seen with a generous suspension travel of 220 mm. For the brakes there are the twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 267 mm disc at the rear are offered with a Bosch ABS system.

The adventure tourer is based on a Lattice frame made from chrome molybdenum steel for high rigidity, and tips the scale at 230 kg dripping wet.

The 1190 Adventure R which is just one of four models KTM offers in the Adventure segment in other developed markets at the moment, but this will be first product for the Indian bike market.

Upon launch, the 1190 Adventure R would rival the Benelli 1190 TRE K and also the Truimph Tiger XCx as well. With aggressive pricing of the Tiger XCx, Benelli and KTM will have price it well to be competitive in getting the lead in this Adventure segment.
