Maruti Suzuki Alto Kei has been spotted in India in and around the Manesar plant. As we had stated, Maruti Suzuki is considering to introduce a new body style for the Alto and this time around it will be looking at replacing the currently sold 1.0-litre engine with the new 658cc turbo petrol mill. The Alto Kei is currently sold in Japan is one of the lightest Altos ever made.

The next-generation Alto for India will be based on the Alto Kei, but not necessarily the same design. The two engines for the Alto Kei will be the 796cc petrol, which is the oldest Suzuki engine in India and the new 658cc turbo petrol engine. As a part of its engine downsizing exercise, the 658cc will be more fuel-efficient than the K10 engine. The Alto is the highest selling car for Suzuki and they will not want it to be out dated at any point of time. The new Alto will be derived from the Alto Kei with some differentiates in styling to suit the likes of the Indian audience.

It was just a while ago when the Japanese car and bike manufacturer had introduced the Alto K10 in the Alto 800 body style and even introduced an AMT (automated manual transmission) too. Expect the Alto 800 to also get the AMT in the coming few months. The new Alto is due to be launched by the end of 2016 or in early 2017. There is still some time to go, at the moment this is a very initial stage of this new product.
