The Mahindra S101 is the new compact SUV coming this year, which will cater to urban car buyers.

The new Bolero will be targeting more of rural buyers. The interiors of this new Mahindra S101 have been spotted. The Mahindra S101 has a new steering wheel, and instrument cluster. The centre console has rectangular AC vents and an in-dash infotainment system with a screen at the centre and several buttons. There are three knobs that control the air-con system of the S101 and gear lever will be mounted on the centre console.

This will free up space for the first row, which will be a bench. The Mahindra S101 is targeting first-time car buyers and this will be smaller than the Ecosport. It looks like Mahindra will want to target premium hatchback buyers to buy the S101.

The S101 will be made available with a 1.2-litre petrol engine with a five-speed manual transmission and the 1.5-litre diesel engine will be sold with a five-speed manual and AMT (automated manual transmission). Expect the S101 to be launched around the festive season and to be priced between Rs 6.

5-10 lakhs (on-road). Mahindra’s newly developed petrol engine will be powering the S101. The S101 will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan facility and the company is looking at exporting this new compact SUV as well. Mahindra has lost some UV market share, as it didn’t have a strong contender in the compact SUV segment, but now the brand is looking at introducing two new compact SUVs in this year itself.
