Suzuki’s two-wheeler division has been gearing up with multiple launches in India and it is looking at entering the off-roader bike segment. The only off-roader bike that Indian audience has witness was the Hero Impulse, which also got discontinued and now Hero is looking at introducing Impulse with a 200cc and 250cc engine options. It isn’t just Hero, but other manufacturers like Honda and KTM are eyeing this segment.

There is no clarity on which one will be the first to hit the streets, but we can expect one in excess of 150cc to be made available first as even Hero, Honda and KTM will be introducing higher displacement bikes. KTM is working on a 500cc off-roader bike, while rumours suggest that Honda is working on a 450cc one.

Suzuki DR-Z

Suzuki will be soon introducing the GSX-R150, which is the fully faired 150cc version of the Gixxer. This engine has a 154cc engine with the same power ratings like the Gixxer, however the engine will be tuned for the additional weight of the fairing.

Suzuki had recently introduced the Swish 125 scooter, while the 154cc Gixxer has been a runaway success for the Japanese bike maker. The 800cc bike segment is on the rise and we can expect multiple Suzuki bikes to be targeting this segment and between 300-800cc. Hayabusa too has been doing well for Suzuki.
