For the last 18 months, Hero MotoCorp hasn’t had any major new bike launch and it has only got the two new scooters. Hero is embarking on a favorable product lifecycle, Hero has an array of products lined up for the Indian car market.
Our sources confirm that the company is targeting approximately 35 launches in the coming three years time. This includes the new Dash scooter and the 250cc motorcycle (HX250R), which were showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo. The 250cc HX250R, which could be renamed as well, will be introduced in the second half of FY16. The iSmart 110c is now ready to be delivered to the dealerships.
The new Gujarat plant will be operational by April 2016. This will help Hero MotoCorp to increase its production as it is entering several new export markets. Hero MotoCorp has already entered into Colombia market with six of its best selling bikes with 120 outlets. The company plans to double its target export markets from currently 20 to 40 countries over next few years. Hero has also been testing its existing 100cc Passion Pro, though there is no clarity on what could be the upgrade on the 100cc motorbike. Then there is also the Impulse 200/250 which are currently being developed and tested. Then there will be a new 200cc sports bike and also a 300cc one is in the making.
