Bajaj has confirmed that the Husqvarna brand is coming to India in the next year. They will start off by launching two motorcycles – the Svartpilen 401 and the Vitpilen 401. Now lets talk about the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. The Swedish is aiming existing KTM owners, who were invited to Pune so that they could take test ride of both the motorcycles and give their feedback. In our previous story about Husqvarna in India, we shared that how they have started testing the bike on KTM Duke 390 frames and tyres. It looks like things are moving faster.Husqvarna Svartpilen side

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Launch

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will be launched as the company has suggested next year. This will happen mostly in the middle of the year and after the launch of the upcoming KTM Adventure bike.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Price

The bike’s price is yet not released and nobody knows how they will be positioned by Bajaj in comparison to the KTMs. Will there be a premium twist given to its image? We can’t say anything now. We do predict that the bikes should be priced between ₹2.3 lakhs to ₹2.5 lakhs.

The bikes will be a great and cool new alternative to the KTM Duke. A new avatar of the naked bike in India will be loved and well received with the right pricing. So before we go any further, here is the plot with both these bikes, they will be mechanically the same. But the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will be the differentiator when it comes to looks.

This bike as shown at EICMA is going to be a café racer. The bike will be a departure in design from other manufactures when it comes to staying. While the international-spec Svartpilen 401 rides on spoke wheels, the camouflaged motorcycle caught testing recently was seen on alloy wheels of the KTM 390 Duke. However, the rubber was the Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR enduro tyres seen on the international Svartpilen. The Metzeler Sportec M5 are used on the KTM. One of the reasons for Husqvarna switching to alloy wheels for the India-spec Svartpilen 401 could be the fact that spoke wheels aren’t tubeless-tyre compatible and also because alloy wheels would probably be more cost effective.

The rest of the bike, its stance, the fuel tank and the handlebars really give it a modern café racer look which many are digging these days. With the round headlight it’s almost as if the guys who are nowdays restoring and modifying their Yamaha RX100 had a say in styling.

The bike spotted testing also had grab rails, which are mandatory for motorcycles sold in India. Loses some of the café racer charm? Upon closer inspection we shall find out.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Specifications and Engine

The bike spooted testing had KTM orange all over the engine cases, which shows that Bajaj is already streamlining the production switch for these bikes from Austria to India. The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will share its motor with the 390 KTMs. This also means that the bikes getting the other mechanical bit’s like the brakes, forks and the frame of the KTM too.

Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 Competition

The Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 will directly compete with its Austrian cousin, that’s for sure. But will also go up against bikes with similar pricing and the same power figures. We can count in the Dominar 400, the Royal Enfields and others. Husqvarna will also want to enter the Adventure segment like KTM in India and it will make the whole scenario more interesting. For now that’s all we have on the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. But stay notified to MotorOctane.com for more.
