The want for an SUV is high in India is too high. We can see product portfolios of many companies change over the recent years from sedans to entry-level and premium SUVs. Tata is making SUVs now it’s main focus along with sporty, premier and user-friendly hatchbacks. This is where the Tata Hornbill fits. Tata has planned to take up more space at the Geneva Motor Show. The Hornbill will be shown at the show in a concept form. While the car has already been spotted in spy shots testing, Tata will want to explain the design, dynamics, meaning and features of the car and make sense behind it. The car is a great example of targeting every segment head-on with a new product. The Maruti Ignis has enjoyed the monopoly in the micro SUV segment for some time now. The Hornbill will want to disrupt this segment and make the most of it by giving people a new choice. If we can predict by the latest launches and products that Tata has announced, the Hornbill will be a value for money proposition with a lot of stuff standard and some first in class features.

Now the latest with this car is that for the first time a spy shots of the car has surfaced. Scroll down to the section with spy shots to find out. Also below you find our price predictions and the cars specs and other details.

Tata Hornbill Specifications

The Hornbill will receive the latest engine from the Tata stable. Tata is working on new engines for upcoming cars like the Harrier and others. This micro-SUV will probably get the same 1.2-litre engine as the Tata Tiago. This engine will be a great choice to be plonked down into the Hornbill. The gearbox could be the same five-speed unit. The car will come with both diesel and petrol engines.

Tata Hornbill Features

The Hornbill will borrow a lot of features from the Tata Nexon and the upcoming Tata Harrier. There is going to be a touchscreen infotainment setup with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The car will get JBL speakers. Many first in class features could include mood-lighting, cruise control and park assist. The car could also be a champion in safety with features like 4 airbags, ABS + EBD and Traction Control. Tata has recently been in the news for the high safety levels of the cars it’s producing. The Tata Hornbill will want to be part of that legacy.

Tata Hornbill Design and Interiors

There is no word on the design and interiors of this car. There are no official drawings or renderings out yet. But we do expect that this car will get the same treatment and fascia of the Impact 2.0 language by Tata. The car will be based on the Advanced Modular Platform that is going to underpin the upcoming 45X and the soon to come mid-size sedan from Tata. The interiors are too going to be made in a way that resembles the current design language of the Tata Nexon and the Tata Hexa. There will be a lot of elements in the Tata Hornbill from these two cars. Tata will also make sure that the car will get some styling cues from the upcoming Harrier SUV.

Tata Hornbill Competition

The main competition for the Hornbill will be the Ignis and the KUV100. These cars are already in the market and are catering to the masses. The Hornbill will be an interesting alternative to look at. The car will give buyers a more distinguished choice. The Hornbill will also probably be the only car in this segment with old-school SUV looks.
