Hero MotoCorp has launched the Destini 125 in India. Shown at the 2018 Auto Expo as Maestro Edge and Duet in 125cc versions, the production version of Duet will be called Destini 125. Though the Duet 125 gets named Destini 125, design and mechanics remain the same as that seen earlier this year. It does get some more extra features than the Duet. Hero is positioning this product as a premium family scooter. The Hero Destini 125 will be placed above all others in the Hero lineup. The company says that the 125cc scooter segement is very impost to them and the Hero Destini 125 will be a important launch for them.

The scooter will get Hero’s i3S (Idle Stop-Start System) technology, which will help the scooter achieve a better fuel economy. This technology was first shown in the Maestro Edge.

The Hero Destini 125 scooter has been launched. It will rival a range 125 cc scooters from Honda, Aprilia and TVS. The scooter has already been shown to dealers at an private event earlier.

Hero Destini 125 Price

The Hero Destini 125 has been launched with a starting price of 54,650/- (ex-showroom) for LX trim and is available in five color options – red, brown, black, silver and white. The bike gets i3s technology . It’s the only bike in it’s class to get idle-start-stop.

The Hero Destini 125 gets a full metal body like the Activa 125. The new Hero Destini 125 is based on the Duet but gets cosmetic changes for a new look. This looks a new front apron with chrome accents, and curvy body panels. The scooter looks identical to the regular Duet. However, it gets some more styling cues which make it look premium. The Hero Duet 125 i3S looks more attractive. There are silver accents and large turn indicators placed on the front. The headlamp has a clear lens. An i3S branding sticker is placed on the front of this scooter.

 

There is a comfortable seat that is big enough for riders. There are telescopic shock-absorbers on the front. It also gets a combi brake system. There are disc brakes on the front in this scooter.  From the side, the Destini 125 is plain looking. The rear portion looks much better and is attractive too. The exhaust and wheels are colored in black and there is a silver colored shield on the exhaust as well. A silver colored full grab rail is present at the rear. This is very convenient to hold and comfortable too. The side panel has chrome accents that make it look more premium.

Other features include LED tail lamps, external fuel filling, boot light and a mobile charging port. The scooters will also receive an analog digital instrument cluster and will sit on 90/100-10-inch tubeless tyres at the front and rear.

The Hero Duet gets a 125cc engine.The motor has been tuned to produce 8.7 bhp at 6750 rpm and 10.2 Nm of peak torque available at 5000 rpm. Maximising fuel efficiency, the Destini 125 will be the first Hero scooter to get idle-start-stop-system (i3S system). This will be very useful at traffic stops. The engine fires back on when the throttle is twisted. Thus, it saves fuel by turning off the engine when idling. This feature is not available in any 125cc scooter in the segment.

Some other features available on the Hero Destini 125 will include – an optional front disc brake, Integrated Braking System (IBS), side stand indicator, service reminder, pass switch and external fuel filling. The Destini 125 has been completely developed at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur.

Hero Destini 125 Competition 

The Hero Destini 125 is going to heat up the on-going 125cc wars in the Indian scooter arena. The competition is also fresh and feature loaded here. There is the Honda line-up of the Grazia and Activa 125, the TVS NTorqe, the Suzuki Access 125 and Burgman Street, the Aprilia SR125 and the Vespa LX 125.
